    I read the book before I ever saw the show and I think the book is way better. Except for how he dies at the end of it but still. It is by Stephen King if you've read it post back here

    Sadly I never read the book. I've only seen a little bit of the original movie with Christopher Walken.

    I have the book - started and stopped several times. It's gonna take me forever to get done with it

    Johnny Smith dies in the book the same way he did in the movie, The Dead Zone. The story starts after he has died, because everyone is tryingto understandwhy Johnny did what he did because it was not like him to be so judgemental about someone. They did not understand what he saw in Greg Stillson's future. He did itfor the good of the United States. I hope this helps to answer your question.

    Thanks Foster for the clear up. How does he die in the book anyway? I wish USA or anotehr network rerun the series again..
