Censorship was a hot topic in the early sixties and the various censorship bodies still had a great deal of power (especially in TV!), so this story was very timely. Sam Wanamaker, returning to the US from his long British exile (he had been blacklisted for leftist politics in the 1940s), is cast as an eminent author battling the hypocrisy and closed-mindedness of prudes. A good deal of interesting information on the history of censorship is aired, but the episode suffers from making the author too noble and his opponents too venal - there's less serious moral debate than you find in the best episodes of this series.moreless
