I can't disagree more. If you watch some of his acting, he was one of the most natural kids on tv. Search YouTube for an episode called "Never Name a Duck" and you'll see one of most wonderful scenes by a kid. It is heartbreaking as his little voice quavers about his pet duck. For his age he was very, very good. And if you mean he was annoying because he was very cute, well I say, what is wrong with that?

I like Richie too, although I've heard many folks complain about him. You should watch the pilot episode with Carl Reiner as the dad. The boy in that episode definitely wins the prize for most obnoxious, loud, and annoying.

Larry Matthews was a rotten child actor.

Yes, he managed to do a bit of real acting in "Never Name a Duck." But all too often when he had a punch line, he would have a smirk on his face prior to delivery of the line. It was as if he got a laugh in rehearsal and realized that his line was cute. At those times, he seemed way too self-conscious to be acting.
