  • Mary Tyler Moore steals the show!

    9.0
In only the second show in the series we see why Rob Reiner cast Mary Tyler Moore as Laura Petrie. She is pure dead brilliant, as we see her emergence as an excellent comedic actress. She performs for the first time, what will become “The Laura Petrie Sob”. Her gasping, halting sobs where she tries explain to Rob her reasons for dying her hair between convulsions and stuttering whimpers, is hilarious.

Of course all this is only the icing on the cake. Excellent, funny stuff from all concerned.

From Rob’s hilarious entrance as the sloppy weekend husband, and Buddy’s “Well, if you don’t know, I’m certainly not going to tell you” remark about the mystery of a woman scorned, to Millie’s turn as the helpful neighbour, it’s all good!

Definately one for the Mary Tyler Moore reel!moreless
