  • I classify this episode outstanding. I Love cheif Mannion. He knows how to treat his officers.

    9.8
I love The District.I used to watch it every day and not miss anything. My kids would ask me why I watch episodes over and over and I tell them, that's how much I like the show. I miss not being able to watch it on TV any more and when I get the money I need, I'll be buying the whole four seasons. Then I'll never have to miss it again. I'll be able to watch it any time I want. The episode I like watching was when an officer goes into a pond or river to save people who needed to get out when their car ended up in the pond/river.He died in the end,but he wanted to help those people.moreless
  • Jack Mannion joins the DC force as Chief after a successful stint in New Jersey.

    9.5
This is an excellent pilot episode. Jack Mannion immediately establishes his style is different than any other typical police chief. He begins winning over his people one by one, starting with Nancy Parras, followed by Ella Farmer and Temple Page. Mannion asks the question, which is worse - a crooked cop or a lazy cop? In response to the question, Ella discusses how her sister has a protective order against her husband, but there is never a cop nearby so she has had to move twice. This opening episode is action packed with a shoot out, a murder, and a rapist on the loose.moreless
  • Excellent beginning, the show hits the road running. Fasten your seat belt and hold on to your seat you are in for a wild ride that you will not forget. Each episode is well written.moreless

The show is based on the real life cop Jack Maple. The leading role is played by Craig T. Nelson. The other notable actors are Ella Farmer played by Lynee Thigpen (radio announcer in "The Warriors", and Kevin Debreno played by Jonathan LaPaglia (Frank B Parker in 7 Days). This episode and all that follow are excellent. This is one of a very short list of programs that I can say are excellent. Acting is top notch.moreless
