Episode Summary

EDIT
Drew and the King
AIRED:
Drew takes a job as a security guard. Lewis, Oswald and Steve tell him that Kate has gotten a promotion. Drew is upset to realize that she no longer comes to him with news about big events in her life. He asks his boss to transfer him to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame so that he can spend more time with Kate. Christine isn't too thrilled about this, and doesn't believe Drew's claims that he just wants Kate as a friend. Kate becomes annoyed when Drew tries to hang around her at work. While searching for his keys at the Elvis exhibit, he finds a previously unheard record in the couch. It features Elvis singing Jewish folk songs. Drew gives Kate credit for the discovery, which will give her a huge career boost. Mimi predicts that Kate will blow it. While showing off all of the precautions she has taken with the record, Kate ends up dropping a steel case on it and damaging it beyond repair. She decides to accept a job offer at a polka museum in Chicago before word gets out about her screw-up. After discovering that Oswald can impersonate Elvis very well, the guys decide to make a phony record in the hopes that no one will know the difference. Unfortunately, car alarms can be heard in the background. Drew saves Kate's job by claiming that he was entirely to blame for the fiasco. Christine tells Drew that he is obviously in love with Kate. He finally admits this, and he and Christine break up. Kate decides that she trusts Drew enough to start confiding in him again.moreless

  • Kate stays in Cleveland!

    7.9
Tonight's show opens with Lewis and Oswald playing some sort of word association game at the Warsaw. When Steve walks by, he doesn't seem to be able to figure out the game. Christine then walks in and waits with the guys, who are waiting for Drew also. After a minute goes by, Drew comes in and tells them about his new job as a security guard. The guys seem happy for him. The mood changes when Drew finds out that Kate got a new job in the Cleveland Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. Christine leaves and Kate walks in and gives Drew the could shoulder. Drew is still frustrated about not being included in Kate's life.

Later that week, Drew tells Kate that he's been transferred to the Cleveland Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. He's hoping this will improve their relationship, although he doesn't admit that part.

That same day, Drew is sitting on a couch in the Elvis Presley exhibit, when Kate tells him he should get to work before her boss yells at them. Drew gets up and tries to look for his ring of keys, but he can't find them anywhere. He ends up finding an old record under the cushion to the couch, so Kate plays it on the record player. She thinks this could be a great promotion for her, so she's looking forward to showing it to her boss.

At Winfred-Louder, Mimi is getting back into the swing of things now that Christine's office design has been axed and things are back to normal. Mr. Wick sits down in Drew's old chair and after a minute, ends up looking like Drew, wearing his glasses and eating a candy bar. Mimi thinks he's possessed by some sort of Drew devil.

At the Warsaw, everyone gathers to hear about the Elvis Presley record. Kate comes in and shows the record to everyone, but she accidentally destroys it, she leaves to call the museum to tell them about it.

Back at home, Drew talks to Lewis and Oswald about the possibility of Kate remaining friends. They're upset about Kate moving to Chicago. After a minute, Kate comes over with a box of old things they left at her place. Kate tells the guys that she's not actually told her boss about the record, so the guys decide to try and save Kate's job by having Oswald record a new record.

The next day, Drew, Lewis, and Oswald bring over the Elvis record they recorded to replace the one Kate broke. When they start the record, everything seems just fine, but when a car alarm goes off on the record, their plan is foiled. It seems Oswald forgot to shut the window to the recording booth.

Back at Winfred-Louder, Drew stops by Christine's office to take her out to lunch. When Drew tells Christine that he took the blame for the thing with the record, Christine gets upset, and Drew ends up admitting that he's still in love with Kate, which ends his relationship with Christine.

Back at home, Drew's in the front room, drinking a beer when Kate comes by and tells him about her day. When she asks him what he's watching, Drew tells her he's watching the Spanish news channel because he's attracted to the anchorwoman. He likes to mute the volume and make up the words.

The show ends with Lewis, Oswald, and Mr. Wick doing voice impressions of Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Carol Channing, and Christopher Walken.

Elvis Presley is one of the most commonly-done voices, so it wasn't surprising to see his voice done on the show somehow, especially since Kate works at the Cleveland Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. I thought the plot was a little silly, although it was good to see Kate got to stay in Cleveland.moreless
