Episode Summary

EDIT
Drew Blows His Promotion
AIRED:
Lewis and Oswald plan their annual series of pranks for Drew's birthday, and tease Kate about her inability to keep up with them. Drew volunteers to update Winfred-Louder's training films. He hopes to impress the board and gain a promotion to regional director of personnel. His friends and co-workers help him put together a video outlining the store's sexual harassment policy (although Mimi seems reluctant to resist when Wick "harasses" her). Hoping to win the prank war, Kate alters Drew's safety video. She plans to show it at his birthday party. Unfortunately, he accidentally takes the tampered video to the store and presents it to the board. The video makes it seem as though Drew is passing a lot of gas. He becomes depressed after the incident and eats an entire birthday cake. He is furious at his friends and becomes the laughingstock of the store. He refuses to put up with this, and demands that the board allow him a chance to explain. Drew does not realize that the cake was made of tofu, and that Oswald had accidentally left it out in his truck all day. Drew feels very ill in the middle of his meeting with the board, and struggles to avoid a humiliating incident. Mrs. Louder tells him that he has gotten the promotion, but it is just a token gesture. Winfred-Louder plans to close one of its other regional stores in thirty days, while the third store will "accidentally" burn to the ground.moreless

  • A great prank!

    8.9
At work, Drew calls in Hank, a security guard who he fired the other day, but he's still showing up for work. He says that since he didn't agree to be fired, he's not really fired. Larry comes by and tells Drew he doesn't have the $10 he owes him. Hank gets up and tells Larry to open his wallet and prove it. Larry coughs up the money and Drew re-hired Hank, not as a guard, but in the collections department.

Still at work, Mimi is on the phone with Sally May Cosmetics. They're going to revoke her cosmetics. Lewis and Oswald come in and look for Drew, but since he's not there, they talk to Mimi. She sells them a bottle of perfume. Lewis and Oswald walk over to Drew's cubicle when Kate stops by. They discuss pulling some pranks on Drew, just before Drew gets to his desk. Drew announces he might get a promotion. He has to work on some new training videos, which haven't been re-made since the 1950s.

Before the store opens, everyone is involved in working a training video. When Mr. Wick does his role, he does it as Sean Connery. After Drew yells at him, he does it as Michael Caine.

At home, everyone is watching the videos they made. Just before Drew leaves, he notices his pants are looser. What he doesn't know is Lewis and Oswald switched his pants to a larger pair of pants. After Drew leaves, Kate decides to show Lewis and Oswald a tape she had edited to insert funny sounds, but notices Drew took that tape.

At the board room, Drew puts in the tape, and is humiliated when everyone hears all of the fart sounds, but the board members are laughing.

At work, Drew is eating an entire cake. Kate, Lewis, and Oswald come in, and Drew yells at Lewis and Oswald about the video, but Kate confesses she was the one behind it. Mimi then comes in, wearing a gas mask. She tells him that there's no way he'll be making his way up through the company. Drew calls Mrs. Louder if he can come in and address the board. Kate, Lewis, and Oswald come in to warn Drew about the cake. It's made of tofu, and it sat in the sun in Oswald's truck. Drew's a ticking time-bomb with a quart of spoiled bean curd in his belly.

In the board room, Drew fights to get his job, but he's having problems with his stomach. Mrs. Louder decides to give him the job for the next thirty days, but when he leaves, he walks out pretty gingerly.

The show ends with Mimi trying to ship a package for her, but Global Parcel doesn't ship internationally.

This episode was very funny, mostly because of the sound editing in the training video. The tofu cake joke was hilarious as well.moreless

A great episode. Drew's video with the farts put in made it incredibly funny and everyone I know loved this one. Around here is when I noticed that Drew would be a huge hit. Great episode!
