Drew Carey's Back-to-School Rock 'n' Roll Comedy Hour (1)
AIRED:
The cast and special guests perform comedy sketches with a "back to school" theme. Teenage Drew visits a doctor and learns about his "changing body." A wood shop teacher conducts class, despite the fact that he is just a decapitated head. A sketch parodies the accelerated aging process seen in commercials for milk. Oswald and Lewis try to convince SHeDAISY to hire them as backup singers. Two girls at a slumber party decide to practice kissing on each other. Christa Miller and Jenny McCarthy question the purpose of the sketch after noticing that Drew, John Carroll Lynch and a bunch of pervert crew members are gawking at them. They retaliate by making a sketch in which a buff Abraham Lincoln becomes a stripper and dances for Drew. Oswald tries to impress Jenny with a story about a painful football injury, but the flashback reveals that he was actually a cheerleader. Mimi warns musical guest Smash Mouth not to steal her idea for a speed metal version of Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." Two teenagers experience physical problems after ogling their friend's mom.moreless

  • This episode was all about Drew and his friends doing a bunch of skits and musical acts by some popular bands.

    8.8
This episode was before I say anything funny. Basically,Drew (and the rest of the cast) come up with a sketch show idea. This was a very original idea. But,like with all sketch shows, the musical acts were boring. I mean,to me,they just are. Because, half of the bands that these shows book just aren\'t that good. They\'re boring. Other than the musical numbers, the skits are hilarious. So,the only reason I classify this episode as \"Average\" is because of the boring musical acts. From Lewis being a severed head to a bizarre sports story, the episode was insane, but at the same time, hilarious. So,overall, the episode was a pretty good one.moreless
  • A change of pace is added to the show for the start of season seven.

    8.1
Tonight's show opens with Drew and Jenny McCarthy walk across a stage, and they're interrupted by Lewis, who wants to get to work, but Drew and Jenny want to go fishing. Lewis convinces them to do a sketch show with a back to school theme, and they seem to like the idea.

We quickly transition to an old, black & white film, starring Drew and his doctor, who is played by his brother, Steve. Drew asks his doctor about his body, and he tries to explain puberty to Drew.

Back from commercial, we turn our attention to Lewis, portraying a shop teacher, who's lost all of his body. Another accident leads to his being cut in half.

The next sketch features Drew in a commercial for milk, which involves a girl growing into certain stages of life, ultimately ending with her falling to the floor as pieces of dust.

We now join Mimi and Lewis, who is still missing half of his head. Mimi walks by a television and turns it on, which features a music performance from SheDaisy. When the performance ends, Lewis and Oswald come on stage and offer to be their male dancers. They're even wearing a ridiculous costume. When the guys start to dance, the women leave the stage.

The next sketch involves Kate, Jenny McCarthy, Amanda Bynes, and several other girls for a sleepover. The scene ends up with Kate and Jenny making out, while all of the male actors and crew watch and take photos. When the director doesn't yell "cut," Kate and Jenny yell at the guys. Drew tells them that if they're not happy with the sketch, they can write their own.

We quickly transition to Drew and Abraham Lincoln in a presidential debate. When it's Abraham Lincoln's turn to speak, he strips and dances in front of an annoyed Drew for Jenny and Kate.

At the Warsaw, Lewis, Oswald, and Jenny are drinking beers while sharing sports stories. Jenny's attracted to athletes, so Oswald decides to make up a story to impress her. This scene transitions into a silly scene featuring Mr. Wick, Mimi, Kate, Oswald, Lewis, Amanda Bynes, and Steve in a school spirit competition. The competition goes fine until Oswald scratches himself, adding more drama than is actually needed. Back to the Warsaw, Oswald introduces Jenny to a music band in the other room, and it just happens to be another popular band, Smash Mouth. Smash Mouth goes on to perform a song with Mimi in the audience.

The next sketch features Drew, Oswald, and Lewis trying to portray younger guys. They all go into the kitchen and find Jenny McCarthy standing on a footstool, trying to reach some food in a cabinet. When Oswald gives Jenny a popsicle to suck on, the guys instantly think of sex, causing the front of their pants to explode. When Drew hears pizza has arrived, his own pants explode.

The show ends with a series of bloopers from several scenes of the show.

This week's episode was an interesting change to the show. I thought the idea was a good one, however, and I loved the last major scene, which involved Drew, Lewis, Oswald, and Jenny in the kitchen.moreless
