    • (meeting Diane and her family)
Lewis: Check it out. Drew went to Vegas and all he brought us were these lousy t-shirts with KIDS in them!

    • Drew (on marriage): No! You get a dog! Or you take a cold-hearted look at your parents' life and the urge passes!

  • Notes

    • Guest star Nicole Sullivan and regular Christa Miller are best friends in real life and during the time of airing lived together. Nicole is also a regular guest on "Scrubs" where Christa Miller has a recurring role.

    • This episode didn't have the "5 O'Clock World" intro. Instead, it went straight to a commercial break. The credits, which would normally be show during that intro, were shown in the opening scene.

    • At the 1998 Young Artist Awards, Mika Boorem was nominated for Best Guest-Starring Performance in a Television Comedy by a Young Actress.

    • As part of ABC's Viva Las Vegas night, characters from the four shows airing this evening met each other in Las Vegas. In The Drew Carey Show, Luther becomes Drew's bad luck charm at the craps table. In Ellen, a dazed Spence asks Drew for help finding Caesar.

  • Allusions

    • Drew: Once, I went too high to get to my special place, and I got too close to the sun and my wings fell off. And uh...then the Tin Man came by with some 3 magic beans...

Drew alludes to the mythical story of Daedalus and Icarus as well as The Wizard of Oz and Jack and the Beanstalk.

    • Reverend Jimmy: "Excuse me while I wed this guy!" The minister at the Las Vegas chapel, dressed as Jimmy Hendrix, parodies a life from Hendrix's legendary song, "Purple Haze"- also known in some circles as "'Scuse Me While I Kiss The Sky."
