Tonight's show starts with Drew and his date, Tina, coming by his place. While Tina puts on one of Drew's CDs, Drew goes to the kitchen and grabs a couple of beers. Drew goes back into the living room and starts singing and dancing to the music. He and Tina then start making out, but they're interrupted by Nicki, who comes down and shows Tina wedding photos. This sours the mood between Drew and Tina, so Tina leaves. Drew goes into the kitchen and yells at Nicki for ruining her date. She tells him she's going to go upstairs, finish her cheesecake, and do some jumping jacks in hopes of losing some weight, in an effort to turn her life around.

Outside, Drew joins Lewis and Oswald, who are trying to skateboard, but they're terrible. They sit down and talk about Drew's financial problems. Without his job, he's been unable to pay for his car, so he sold it. To cheer Drew up, the guys decide to take him somewhere special: a strip club. While at the strip club, they run into a new dancer, who is actually a childhood friend, Kellie Newmark. It seems Kellie hasn't been doing very well since her divorce, so Drew invites her to stay with him.

Arriving home with Kellie, Lewis, and Oswald, Drew goes into the kitchen to tell Nicki about Kellie staying with them for a while. Nicki seems to be in a great mood, but her mood quickly changes when she seems how attractive Kellie is and she begins eating her junk food again. Kellie and Nick both leave the room and Drew, Lewis, and Oswald talk about Drew getting a job with the new company which has moved into the old Winfred-Louder building.

In hopes of getting a new job, Drew stops by Neverendingstore.com's office, which is the old Winfred-Louder store. Drew applies for the office manager, and he gets is because of his knowledge from working at Winfred-Louder. When Mimi comes in to apply for the office manager job, Drew tells her that he got the job instead. She then tells him about Steve being fired, so Drew gives her his job.

Back at home, Drew tells the guys about giving the job to Mimi, but they think he's crazy. He's turned into a doormat. On the answering machine, Kate has left a message for Drew, but Drew can't afford to call her back... perhaps on Saturday when the rates are cheaper. What Drew doesn't know is Kate is in New York and she's getting married.

A bit later that evening, Drew decides to go back to the store and demand a job. When he gets there, he tells the owners about his qualifications, but lies to get the only job available.

Back at home, Drew tells the guys he got the job and then thanks Oswald for getting his couch back from the pawn show. Kate then comes in and drops a bombshell... she's getting married the day after tomorrow. This episode is to be continued....

The episode ends with a series of bloopers.

The introduction of Kellie was certainly a little awkward, and with Kate leaving in the next episode, the series goes further down hill. Aside from all of that, the plot for tonight's episode simply wasn't particularly interesting.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Oswald and Lewis mention that Drew must be having difficulties while being unemployed. Drew having "car payments... house payments" are mentioned specifically. Drew actually does not have car payments, as the car was a gift from Oswald, Lewis and Kate in an earlier season (Drew's New Car).

  • QUOTES (1)

    • (after Nicki interrupts Drew's date)
Drew: Nicki, I thought you were going to walk around the mall for a few hours and get a giant cookie.
Nicki: I did the second part.

  • NOTES (8)

    • Craig Ferguson does not appear in this episode.

    • Mimi starts to wear less make-up in this episode. She looks more normal.

    • This episode further continues the producers' apparent preference of Apple computers because every desk in the Neverendingstore.com office has an iMac G4 and some have the iSight camera attached to them.

    • In the eighth season the theme song was performed with a different musical style before each episode.

    • All of Christa Miller's scenes in this episode were completed before the taping in front of the studio audience.

    • According to someone who went to a taping of this episode, there was a scene that was shot, but didn't make the final cut. The scene involved Kate in a department store looking for a wedding dress. The scene would have taken place at the beginning after the part with Lewis and Oswald trying to ride skateboards. They decided to cut this scene after figuring that if viewers saw Kate looking for a wedding dress, it would automatically reveal that she's getting married, and her announcement at the end of the episode would have come off as less shocking.

    • Cynthia Watros joins the cast as Kellie Newmark.

    • Theme: Five O'Clock World by My Little Fast Machine.
