  • Interesting, but not completely successful.

In this unusual episode we only get two regulars, Louisa and Charlie, as the story takes place away from the Hotel Bentinck. It resembles a romantic drama or even a Gothic story, what with the mysterious goings-on in a large, empty country house. At times it reminds you of Jane Eyre or Rebecca. As refreshing as that may be, there are certain things that don't quite work. The ease with which Louisa and Charlie have given up their daughter seems odd. There was hardly any mention of her in previous episodes, but then she wasn't around. Now Louisa comes face to face with the child and she hardly reacts. The only moment Louisa shows signs of motherly concerns is when she recognises the challenges of her own youth in Lottie's future.moreless
