Episode Summary

March 16, 1963
Edie's guests are Hoagy Carmichael, Rowan and Martin, Comic Hank Henry, The Homer Garrett Dancers and The Eligibles. Highlights: Edie opens with "Home on the Range" accompanied by Jerry Fieldings Orchestra. Rowan and Martin do a sketch of a shoot-out titled "High Noon Duel in the Sun". Hoagy Carmichael plays two of his songs "Old Buttermilk Sky" and the theme from the television series "Laramie". Burlesque comic Hank Henry, Rowan and Martin and The Eligibles do 'jubilation' for a big square dance number done to the tune of "Jubilation T. Cornpone", (one of the hit numbers from the Broadway show "Lil Abner" in which Edie Adams starred). Edie sings "Go West Young Man". Hoagy and Edie duet with "Aura Lee" and "Ragtime Cowboy Joe". For the finale Edie sings "America the Beautiful" against a Nevada sunset some 15 miles south of Las Vegas.moreless
