  • McCall is hired by two skyscraper window washers, who are certain that their boss is trying to have them killed after they set about forming a union. A rather average episode...moreless

I found this to be one of the more average instalments of the first season. The story is watchable but not outstanding.

The best element of the episode is how McCall's housekeeper, waiting to move into a new home, invites herself to stay with him – complete with two children. So amidst investigating the case, McCall unwittingly finds himself looking after the two boys.

This sort of thing also marks how more humour is being injected into the series after the very dark and edgy earliest episodes.

Other than that, the story isn't bottom of the barrel for the series, but I confess to not finding this one exactly gripping either. The opening scene, of the skyscraper window washers almost being killed in what seems to be sabotage, is exciting, but after that things fall into a rather standard episode.

I found it hard to warm to either of the two men who hire McCall; Robert Davi – a veteran bad guy actor in various 1980s series – gives a fair performance of Riegert, but the story surrounding him is rather average.moreless
