  • Just plain silly.

Okay, so the government is supposed to be doing a vast coverup and trying to convince the rest of the country that nothing suspicious is going on. So the carry out a murderous attack on a regional FBI office, on the assumption that the agents will be too docile to fight back and that the agency will just ignore it. This makes no sense; it's just a plot contrivance to push the female FBI agent onto Shawn's side.

And what was with the highway accident that set Shawn free? At the time I thought it was part of somebody's plot, but nothing was mentioned about it, so apparently it's normal for a vehicle to collide with two police cars on an empty desert highway. Oh, and Shawn somehow gets a bleeding, unconscious woman into a motel without anybody getting suspcious. Anything to keep the plot going.moreless
  • The plot/s continue to evolve and a new alliance is forged in battle.

    8.5
After two weeks of stumbling around like a man with no-one to trust Sean has finally found an ally in FBI Agent Collier, The two survive a car crash which killed her partner(How many of us were expecting the cop to do that?). After hitching a ride to the field office in the boot of her car so he could access the feds facial recognition database to ID Vicky Sean was arrested then rescued by Collier after bogus NSA Agents raided the office and killed everyone Sean and Collier escaped and remain on the lam for now. This could be the start of a beautiful friendship but then again since this conspiracy is so far reaching can Collier really be trusted? Either way should be fun to watch the two trying to work together to unravel the mystery and trying to stay alive in the process.

President Martinez tried to make headway with Sophia but she is either unwilling or unable to help, The scenes between these two are so much fun to watch they alternate between friend and enemies so quickly it can make your head spin, Failing in his attempts to get help from Sophia he turns to her group and manages to get 1 alien to give info but before he really gives anything he is murdered not by that id*ot Intelligence Director or even one of the aliens on the outside who seem to have their own agenda but by his own girlfriend who was acting on orders either directly from Sophia or indirectly from her through Simon.

We got more information on Leila in this episode, Apparently after being whisked off the cruise ship she was taken to an undisclosed(As yet) location and now she is in Miami but came within seconds of being freed by that unfortunate patrol cop who Vicky had no hesitation killing - Apparently whoever she is working for doesn't mind a few extra dead bodies turning up, After a failed escape attempt at her current holding place Leila sits imprisoned in a shipping crate somewhere in Miami which is as we all know where the plane WAS going that day.

Speaking of the plane, After the president, Simon and their various flunkies visited the crash site the bodies were all moved to a temporary morgue probably at an air force base or something. I was expecting the bodies to be beamed out or otherwise evaporate but in the second biggest WTF moment of the show so far ALL the dead passengers and presumably Michael and the stewardess too all sat bolt upright at the end scaring the crapola out of the single guard. And not to be picky or something but if you were stashing 100+ bodies that died from exposure to some unknown toxin after a plane crash wouldn't you have better security than 1 single guard who was not wearing any protective equipment either.

This shows keeps getting better and better and I can't wait for the next episode.moreless
  • Let's just assume our audience is too dumb to connect the dots.

I like the story itself. Love the actors. Good stuff all around. The hospital scene where Walker is trying to escape, he runs my doctors and nurses.NO ONE bothers telling the pursuers he just went into THAT room 15 feet away.

The FBI agent Claire is at the station and discovers her netbook missing. You mean she didn't notice that her notebook bag was 10 lbs lighter when she picked it up off the floor in the hotel room with her FOOT? Or when she looked right into the case on the bed to grab her cell phone?moreless
  • There is Hope After All!

    7.5
So, I've accepted the fact that we wont be getting any answers any time soon. So, I've decided to start watching the show without thinking too hard and deal with whatever it throws my way. But I was surprised when this episode was good. I have to admit the show seems to be increasing in quality. The only problem I had with this episode is that it's always introducing new characters. I bet half-way into the season they'll still be introducing new people. Basically this show is like the Bourne Trilogy. Story that kind of makes you think, pretty good action sequences, decent performances and filmed with hand-held camera. Overall: This show is getting better, but it will never be as good as Lost, or 24.moreless
  • Best episode yet. Has moments of "24" and proves the show needs to stop being compared to "Lost."

    8.5
I think a majority of the people, including me, can admit we were expecting "The Event" to be the next "Lost." Even though it was clearly unlikely that there'd be any show that could reach the same epic levels as "Lost," one could hope, right? After tonight's episode, it's become more and more clear that "The Event" is becoming more like "24" than "Lost." The show had a rapid-fire pace tonight and had plenty of action sequences, some hints at what's going on and some very unrealistic moments.. but for the most part, I was actually excited for the first time in three weeks with the show.

We start the episode by focusing on how Sean is able to escape the FBI and make his way into the FBI field office to track down Vicky Roberts. Sean tried again and again to explain to the FBI that Vicky Roberts was responsible for his girlfriend's kidnapping, they refuse to listen, just like any bureaucratic TV agency will. However, it's here that things start going haywire (in a good way though). Sean is captured as one of the FBI agents starts putting some of what he's saying together. At the same time, Blake Sterling discovers that Sean exists and is starting to piece things together. He sends some agents to get him, which results in a long and entertaining fight between Sterling's men and Sean (I'm not 100% sure that they're actually Sterling's men, because they only talked with Vicky Roberts). Either way, Sean and the FBI agent escape and are now on the run. Very 24-esque.

As for the prisoners, this plot was much less entertaining and teased us with the hint of some major answers only to pull away at the last second. President Martinez is like a poor man's David Palmer, but he's becoming more and more interesting to me as time goes along. In fact, that seems to be my opinion on a majority of the characters. Each of them were interesting in the pilot, but seemed extremely weak and barely thought out. We're slowly learning about each character though, which makes future episodes more promising. But I'm going to be furious if we keep getting teased the way we were tonight. President Martinez prepares to interrogate one of the prisoners, and just as he's about to answer questions, his girlfriend Maya (Clea Duvall) kills him. Talk about the easy way out.

However, for the third straight episode, we're left with an incredible cliffhanger. This time, we witness all of the dead bodies from the end of last week's episode start slowly coming back to life. What this means for the future is hard to tell. Then again, mostly everything with this show is hard to tell. However, after tonight, I see a much more promising future in store. Now, as long as ratings stay up, we can hope for even better episodes.moreless
