  • Although I'm becoming very fond of this show, this week's episode was a bit lacklustre.

    6.5
At first I was really surprised to see Brian Holt appear on this kind of show. I really liked him on John from Cincinnati so I thought I wouldn't mind his guest appearance. Yet I didn't find his portrayal of surfer kid Shane at all riveting. He seemed to mumbling half of his lines and I quickly started hoping Bella'd dump this guy real fast or the other way round. The dialogue wasn't quite up to par this week, as was the main plot. The subplots didn't amuse me either. Bummer! I love the Ex-list because of its wittiness, great characters and originality. This week we saw nothing of that.moreless
  • Bella meets Shane a surfing freak whom she dumped years ago.

    8.0
Finally, I will be writing my first review for this show. After watching Reaser's annoying role in Greys, I thought watching her in a comedy would be bad idea. But still I gave it a shot, I don't regret it at all. I am not saying this show is awesome and stuff; but for a freshman show, its different and great so far.

This episode on the lines the preceding ones, follows the same template. Bella meets Shane, a surfer who she dumps a long time ago in Mexico because he was essentially a vagabond with no direction on life. Now, she is surprised to find that he has now become some sort of a celebrity. They fall for each other again, and Bella unwillingly helps him notice that there is more to life than playing marketing gimmicks to make money. Brian Van Holt who has played Shane fits the character well wit his rugged and masculine looks. This episode was different from the previous ones in the sense that Bella finds herself even more attracted to him at the end. Whereas, she dumps the other guys in the earlier ones. Or in other words, this story still ain't over.

Other parts, such as Cyrus massaging Mini Van to get a surfing board to impress a chick, and, the shower head part were quite funny and enjoyable. I like the way the story progresses. Its a neatly planned out 45-odd minutes. Overall, a show worth following and I look forward for the next one.moreless
