The Faculty

Show Summary

A mid-season replacement that series fits rather too easily into the bland high-school-sitcom mold to be memorable. Although The Faculty seems conceived as a starring vehicle for executive producer Meredith Baxter, she generously plays her role as straight woman to an ensemble cast of slightly bizarre co-workers. The most memorable is Nancy Lenehan, best known for her small recurring role as an neurotic teacher in Grace Under Fire; here, as the power-hungry bitch secretary Daisy, she shows considerable comedic talent and bite. Someone give both women another series!

  • Welcome Back, Baxter!

The Faculty was a wonderful piece of sitcom! Unfortunately, the show made a mistake by trying to appeal to all audiences, and in turn, appealed to no market individually.

Meredith Baxter was wonderful, however her role was really for the working woman or stay at home mom. And, none of the men in the cast had the pull to draw in a male audience whatsoever.

The other huge problem was that the plotlines were too juvenile to appeal to adults, but the talented cast of kids who were regulars on the show, were not featured enough to draw in a young fanbase. This was devastating as there were only a few kids who were regulars unlike Welcome Back Kotter or Nick Freno, and the kids who were continuously featured on the show were not talented, cute, and real! But, they were never given the shot they deserved. Other than that, it seemed like all of the kids in the school were only around for a few weeks.

Unfortunatly, this will go on record as one of the highest potentials, that never saw it's day in the limelight.moreless
