NOOOOOO WAYYYYYY. The combination of Steve Marmel, and Steve Fellows leaving and Kevin Sullivan, Cynthia True, Ray Delaurentis and Will Scifrin joining the crew what ruined the series.

I think it's Scott Fellows instead of Steve

And seeing how Scott did with Johnny Test.... looks like the student learned a lot from the teacher, lol!

It is not that Poof ruined the show, it is that a ruined show got Poof.

^I like this wording. Poof was a great way to bring the series back; I liked the special and most of the decent episodes (IMO) have been about Poof. But too much focus? I beg to differ. In most of the episodes, all he does is float there...and float there...and just make cutesy noises or do nothing at all. It is these things that have made me think Poof has been an asset to the show, and I actually think Cosmo has improved a little since the birth of his son. Cozmorocks has it right...the change in staff ruined this show.

Poof is not to blame for the long-term death this series has been on.

Poof IS possibly to blame for the viewer drop off after his movie, as most of the episodes after it focused on him. However, those viewers would have probably left anyways after the waste of resources that was Wishology. I'd say the FOP movie too, but those that were still left around to care about it are practically immune to disappointment now.

By Season 7, they had switched focus back to lazy repetition involving Crocker or Timmy's parents, and while Poof had a forgettable episode or two starring him, he was just one of several problems hindering this show.

I will say though, the plot summary alta9delta brought us sounds intriguing. We'll have to wait and see how it gets executed though as the LOSERS concept was a good thing that became a dud.

    Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie?

Seriously I don't know what I think he might have done but when he came along at first all my (weird dork) mind kept thinking was "Aah he's so cute'' but yeah the maybe the novelty went away. Then again the two episodes that revolved around him 'Mission: Responsible' and 'Sooper Poof' I thought were very good though.

.....and I still badly want a poof plush toy. (28 year old man) but the ''so cute I want one'' thing comes out in me big style when I see the photo of the one Butch had a Comic Con.

I remember seeing at the former Jump the Shark site (before it was acquired by TVGuide), some folks also mentionned the voices actor changes of Chester and AJ as a jump the shark moment. Frankie Muniz, the original voice of Chester was replaced by Jason Marsden.

Quoted for truth. Remember what incredible ratings "Fairly Oddbaby" got? Viewers were EXTREMELY interested in Cosmo and Wanda having a baby. And then viewers actually saw the special...with COSMO GIVING BIRTH...and that's when interest dropped like a rock. The writers screwed up big-time. Ruined a good idea, but then, they've been doing that for years with the entire show, turning it from a likable show with a likable couple and a likable put-upon kid, into a moronic screamfest with a braindead wife abuser, a miserable female buttmonkey and a spoiled brat.

And even 5 years after that, nothing has really changed.

^In one month and three days, it will be EXACTLY five years since Poof's birth. And as you stated, nothing has changed, even though there has been plenty of time to make it so. These writers could really learn a lesson from the Mike Barker/Matt Weitzman team....

Yeah, I don't get that complaint that Poof is focused on too much. He's been in a handful of episodes at most, usually he's just a background character. I think some people just don't like a show to change, even if the change is a minor one and that doesn't (unfortunately in FOP's case) change the dynamics of a shows' characters or the way the show's stories are told.

^In the what, three seasons?, since Poof's arrival, there have been 10 episodes, tops, about him. For three seasons, that isn't much. I agree with you fewmet, as usual - people don't like that the show has changed, so they're blaming Poof because they can. Quite frankly, that stance makes little to no sense. The show jumped the shark WAY before Poof came along - remember the horrors in Seasons 4 and 5? All of the Wanda abuse, Cosmo's personality doing a complete 180, Timmy losing pretty much every likeable trait he once possessed - there were plenty of factors that ruined the show before Poof was added. When he did arrive, other things changed - most of the side characters practically being written off the show, terrible episode ideas that couldn't possibly be well executed, and even terrible specials and movies, when they were once FOP's golden trait above any other kids' show on TV. However, none of these latter factors have much to do with Poof - yes, side characters have been replaced with a more family-esque tone since a baby came, but even when episodes have nothing to do with him, they are still not included. The truth is, there are many things wrong with this show that are completely mutually exclusive from Poof, so I can't understand why fans are complaining about him when there have been plenty of other much more important things to complain about. What does Poof do in each episode besides hardly anything? It's not like he makes idiotic statements and makes every situation go from bad to worse like oh, say, his father. I don't see how a fairy baby floating in the background and occasionally cooing from time to time, with maybe three episodes a season about him, are causing such backlash from certain fans. I'm not even interested in pregnancy, childbirth, or having children of my own someday, and even I can tolerate him.

I guess Poof will be under the shadows of Sparky. Just like Baby Smurf who was a cute addition was eclipsed by the Smurflings and Puppy. Interesting to note then both FOP and the Smurfs added a baby in the series and later a dog to keep the series Fresh. Strange coincidence.....
