  • A great introduction of 2 characters

Hard Copy: I liked this one a little better than its partner. It had a better plot and more humor in my opinion. I loved the introduction of both Darth Laser and Dr. Rip Studwell. Dr. Rip Studwell's part was especially hilarious in this episode, especially his 18 holes of golf joke. I also liked Wanda's line "Timmy Turner's office. Please hold," Chester, AJ, and Tootie's cameo in this episode and the ending. My only complaint about this episode is probably the 2 or 3 minute scene with Timmy trying to defeat Darth Laser before Cosmo comes back which was basically nothing but Timmy screaming. That just kinda got on my nerves. Overall, though, this is one of the better season 4 episodes, and my overall grade is an A-. The second episode, Parent Hoods, wasn't quite as good, but I still liked it. The plot seemed like something that has been done a lot on TV shows, but there was some great humor, like Cosmo throughout the episode, Mr. Turner wanting to sharpen a pencil in the sacred sharpener, and the revelation that there was a bathroom in the RV after Mr. Turner stopped at a rest area. I didn't like the ending, though. For my final grade, I'll give this episode a B-. Marebear2009, out!

  • Great episode in the series.

    9.3
The episode was great in my opinion and it had many fun parts in it like the souveneir bandits who were funny and looked just like Timmy's Mom and Dad. The place that was funny was the Museum of pencil sharpening that it's name was quite funny and the way they went down to Niagara Falls was great and it looked kinda cool. But what I didn't like was when the pencil sharpener broke because they were sent to jail in which I think it was a bad thing that happened in that episode.

The other episode was great too and Darth Laser made me laugh because he liked the Flipsie dolls. Also the way he invaded Dimmsdale I think it wasn't a good thing, but at least Cosmo showed up at the end and saved Dimmsdale.moreless
  • Hard Copy is the episode which Timmy's fairy godparents are on an appointment, so Timmy gets a copy machine to grant the wishes. Parent Hood is the episode which Timmy's family travels to a special place where the sacred pencil sharpener is.moreless

I do much like the Hard Copy more than the Parent Hood.

Hard Copy brings back the old classic of my Star Wars fandom, especially I like the Y-Wing and the Victory-Class Star Destroyer (Nope, the Imperial-class is too big for that scene). Though it's impressive to see Timmy pilot a Y-Wing which actually supposed to be a bomber instead of a fighter, as the trouble has to end, of course, he must say "please", it's a way of good manners. Ahh, yes, Dark Laser, a parody of Darth Vader, like him, but I mostly vote for the spacecrafts in this episode.moreless
  • A soap opera plus a science-fiction epic equals pure madness! Hahaha!

    Hard Copy

While Wanda takes Cosmo to the doctor, Timmy busies himself with a magic photocopier she poofed up. Unsurprisingly, chaos ensues when he obtains a life-size action figure of some Darth Vader wannabe.

Too good, really. Hard Copy has some of the best lines and scenes alongside Miss Dimmsdale. "Timmy Turner's office, please hold." "After eighteen holes of golf!" (That last one's a real LOL.) "Except make you flip! Why won't you flip?!" "Don't get flippy on me, mister!" And what's this? A cameo by Chester, AJ, Elmer, and of course Tootie? For those of you wondering about the cheering when Timmy crashed through the billboard: They're not only cheering the boy's survival but also because they reasonably hate Dr. Bender. All in all, Hard Copy is one mean must-see.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (5)

    • Chester is still on the line when Dark Laser zaps them with a beam. Wanda then says into the phone "I'm sorry he's in a meeting". The phone has a spiral chord but it is not connected to a wall unit or any other phone.

    • Timmy never sees Flipsie work for Dark Laser, he only sees it work for Chet Ubetcha. When he sees Flipsie work for Chet Ubetcha, Timmy calls him the bad guy.

    • In 'Parent Hoods' Cosmo said he turned himself and Wanda into Dodos 'The extinct flightless bird of Canada' but the dodo bird lived on a group of islands in the Pacific, pretty weird considering how much he knows about Canada. Reply: The whole scene was a joke, the fact he turned them into flightless birds.

    • Niagara Falls is not one of the 7 Wonders of the World; it's only one of the 7 Forgotten Natural Wonders of the World.

    • When Cosmo was lying on his back on the copy machine surface, the copies came out as the front of his body. However, in the position Cosmo was in, the copies should have come out as images of his backside.

  • QUOTES (21)

  • NOTES (3)

  • ALLUSIONS (14)

    • The Magic Copier Machine is similar to the The PATSY2000 from Captain Underpants And The Attack Of The Talking Toilets.

    • Show: Dimmsdale's Most Wanted.
This is a parody of the show America's Most Wanted.

    • Dark Laser: I have you know.I mean,we have you now.
This is a parody of Darth Vader's quote from Star Wars.

    • Name: The Turnbaums
The name of the Souvenir Bandits, The Turnbaums is a parody of the name of the family, The Tenenbaums from the movie The Royal Tenenbaums.

    • Cosmo: But come on! Even Houdini couldn't escape this!
Harry Houdini was world-renowned for his stunts and feats of escapology even more than for his magical illusions.

    • Horseshoe Falls Scene: Roger Woodward
Roger Woodward, a seven-year-old American boy, fell off Horseshoe Falls protected only by a life vest on July 9, 1960.

    • Timmy's spaceship looked alot like the Y-wing from Star Wars and Dark Laser's ship looked like the super star destroyer.
      -------
In response to above, the Y-Wing is a bomber craft, not a fighter. But the visual look is still look much like the Y-Wing itself.
      -------
As for Dark Laser's ship, it resembles the Victory-class cruiser (50% of the size of the Imperial Star Destroyer). The Super class is way too big and may not count, such as the Executor.

    • Cosmo's surprise return when Timmy and Wanda are in danger is an allusion to Han Solo's surprise return at the end of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

    • Space Wars: Star Wars
Space Wars is an obvious spoof of Star Wars.

    • Dark Laser: Darth Vader
Dark Laser is an obvious spoof of Darth Vader.

    • D.O.A. Shwartz Toys: F.A.O. Shwartz
The magazine Timmy is reading is called D.O.A Shwartz toys. This is a spoof of a big toy store in New York City called F.A.O Shwartz.

    • Flipsie: (Flips)
Flipsie bears a striking resemblance to Yippe in South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.

    • The Halls: The Traps
Most of the traps in "Parent Hoods" resemble the traps in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

    • Wanda: Here's the jam. (Finds some red jelly in the copier)
The jam is probably a reference to the Mel Brooks movie Spaceballs where they "jam" the radar by shooting raspberry jam on the satellite.
