Episode Summary

EDIT
Power Pals: Timmy's friends are tired that he is always pushing them around, so they form an anti Timmy force. Timmy wishes for some Super Friends to be his new friends. But pretty soon they begin pushing Timmy around like he used to with Chester, AJ, Elmer, and Sanjay. Timmy tries to find his old friends, but when the "Power Pals" find out there is an Anti Timmy league, they try to destroy it but Timmy and his friends confuse them with a distress call supposedly sent from another galaxy.

Emotion Commotion:
After being embarrassed in public when his bathing suit comes off while swimming, Timmy wishes he has no emotions. This personifies his emotions into small creatures which act like their emotions, and Cosmo keeps them in a box. With no emotions, Timmy is not afraid of anything and does dangerous daredevil stunts, and is approached to be a secret agent. He is sent on a mission to a cliched-evils-genius-hideout-volcano to rescue some prisoners. When he is about to jump in to the base, he says he is tired of having no emotions, so Cosmo and Wanda release them from the box. Timmy didn't mean right now, and has to complete his mission with his emotions.moreless

  • A Rather Odd Episode

    5.0
Power Pals was kind of ridiculous, and I do not have any more to say about that. Emotion Commotion was kind of bland because that was how Timmy acted without his emotions. I agree with whoever (or whomever) mentioned in trivia that boredom is an emotion because how can you not FEEL bored. When Timmy said he was bored, he probably should have said he had no opinion about something. He did think accurately when he said he thought logically without his emotions. It turns out that scientists discovered that the chicken actually did come before the egg because an eggshell has ovocledidin-17, and that cannot exist without a chicken.moreless
  • Did I say "bottom of the barrel"? I mean "AWFUL BEYOND REASON!!!!!"

    1.1
    Power Pals

    - What have we here? Timmy mistreats his friends, ends up alienated, wishes for superhero friends, and gets mistreated as well. Simple enough, right? I heard this was one of Butch Hartman\\\'s top favorites, though I fail to see why. The Justice League-wannabes are a waste of drawings, but that\\\'s not my biggest issue here. An episode that revolves around Timmy treating others poorly? Beg pardon?? From another opinion I looked up, according to chronology, I\\\'ll have you lame excuses for scriptwriters know that Chester, AJ, Elmer, and Sanjay are more at fault than Timmy. Hello? Anybody home? Remember Odd Jobs? You know, when Chester, AJ, and Elmer laughed at Mr. Turner? And Fool\\\'s Day Out, when Chester and AJ - along with the rest of Dimmsdale - pulled constant pranks on Timmy? Who did you say was at fault? (silence) I didn\\\'t think so. Oh well, at least this one was a little more tolerable than its partner.

    Emotion Commotion

    - On to business. After being embarrassed...wishes he has no emotions...has to continue with his emotions. Simple enough...right? Let\\\'s go back to my \\\"favorite\\\" part:

After being embarrassed at the public swimming pool when his bathing suit comes off while swimming...whoa, hold up there! Timmy Turner, of all people, endures THAT debilitating kind of incident?! Butch Hartman, who\\\'s supposed to be a bigger genius than, say, Genndy Tartakovsky, let THIS happen to his own creation???!!!! Oh, no! Absolutely not! I cannot see that happening to such an amazing boy like Timmy! This one MUST be out of continuity!

(takes a deep breath) Okay, okay. Looks like I got carried away there. But honestly, I don\\\'t see why most viewers hold this one in high regard. Do they like it because they can relate to such...or does the pornographic content play a higher hand? I know; Pipe Down and Crime Wave had the same thing, but there are obvious differences. In Pipe Down, Timmy was nude in the sanctity of his own home. In Crime Wave, although he was nude out in public, at least nobody recognized him. Here, he\\\'s nude in public and recognized by all. (Interestingly, it doesn\\\'t strike me as deadly when someone pulls off another\\\'s swimsuit or when the wearer takes them off themselves as it does when they slip off on their own. Reference C:KND episode Operation: BUTT.) If that sort of thing ever happened to me, it\\\'d scar me for life.

\\\"Look who decided to wear clothes today!\\\" I wanna rip Tad, Chad, Trixie, Francis, and especially Veronica\\\'s throats out BIG TIME. As that same person who talked about Timmy\\\'s so-called friends being more at fault than him said, here the pink-hatted boy was essentially picked on for something beyond his control. I am thankful for two things: (A) I neither have nor ever will see this one, and (B) it\\\'s never been referenced in later eps. If I had my way, Emotion Commotion would be banned from broadcast.moreless
  • Timmy wishes for "super friends". Timmy wishes for no emotions.

    7.2
This was an okay episode, but there were two errors with it.

    1) When Timmy rattles off the different emotions he experienced that day, he says that he was "scared by Francis" and "afraid to die". The last time I checked, being scared and being afraid are essentially the same thing.

    2) Common sense is not an emotion. Therefore, when Cosmo and Wanda took away Timmy's emotions, his common sense (the little white square with glasses) shouldn't have been in the box with his emotions.

Otherwise, it was a pretty good installment. Typical fare for Fairly Odd Parents. It's just these little things that bug me, though.moreless
  • Great episode.

    9.2
This was a great episode in which I enjoyed alot because Timmy has Power Pals and they do the hall of friendship that was bigger than the school and Timmy also dresses as a maid and the announcer of the Power Pals said that it was creepy and I really laughed when he said that because it was so funny.

Also in the other episode Timmy gets embarassed for being naked in public and he wishes that he didn't have any emotions. I really liked the way he jumped on motorcycle at the top of the Dimmadome and the scissors made it even funnier and the way he went to that island and the sharks became scared of him for not having any emotions and the angry tourist was funny also and the way he unicycled across the volcano was funny also and the emotions were really funny and strange in some way. In conclusion for being such a good episode I personally give it a 9.2 superb rating for my review.moreless
  • I like the second episode better.

    9.3
Power pals is an episode show that is like most other ones, but emotion commotion is like the best episode of fairly oddparents ever!

power pals starts when timmy cuts in front of elmer and gets the last steak. then, cosmo and wanda reminds him that he used his friends alot of times before, and sees a flash back. then, timmy ignores it and goes to where his friends are. they don't let him, so he goes to the popular kids spot, then the middle kids spot, then the geek spot. timmy gets angry and wishes for super friends. they throw a crystal and it became the table of frienditude. then they hear this distress call and goes to save the day. then they throw another crystal, and i forgot the name of it. then the power pals neglect timmy just as timmy neglected his friends. he wants to wish them away, but they're too super. so timmy goes to the anti timmy force four, and persuade them to help him. a.j. tricks them, making them go to the adromeda galaxy. the episode ends where timmy helps his friends.

emotion commotion starts when you see timmy on top a high diving board, and other people are waiting for him to jump off. francis scares him, and he jumps right off. then you see timmy burning up in the atmosphere and the screen turns to crocker saying there's no kids around to spoil his day. then timmy splashes on top of him, and lands in the pool. he comes out naked in front of many people. at timmy's bed, timmy feels embarresed and wishes he had no emotions. cosmo stores his emotions in a box, and timmy goes to school. there he gets made fun of but he doesn't react. he goes in a motorcycle jumping place, and suceeds the stunt. then he gets into a mission, where he has to rescue chester and trixie. in the end, cosmo gives timmy his emotions, and timmy jumps off a cliff forgetting his common sense. in the end, he puts a pirahna in cosmo and wanda's fish bowl and the episode ends. (he was in his room in bandages)

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (12)

    • In Power Pals, AJ explains that Andromeda is 57 million light years away. In real life, it is 2.5 million years away.

    • In the episode Power Pals, the light-year unit is used incorrectly. Near the end of the episode its 57 million light years LATER. This wrong because it implies that the light-years is a unit of TIME.* IT IS A UNIT OF DISTENCE. A light year is defined as the DISTENCE light travels in one year.

Reply: *not necessarily, is like saying, we'll see us in 500 miles, and then after that distance, could appear the message, "500 miles later", and that means you walk the 500 miles.

    • Wanda told Timmy that the parahnas would kill her and Cosmo, but how is that possible if fairies live forever?

Edit: Fairies can be killed, but they can't die of old age.

    • In Emotion Commotion, while Mr.Crocker was trying to humiliate Timmy about his incident on the pool, look at Timmy's blue book, it keeps switching positions.

    • We learn that Timmy's common sense emotion is the emotion that allows him to make a wish. Reply: No it is not. What they meant was the fact that Timmy can wish without common sense, but he is dumb without it.

    • After the "Locker Party" that Cosmo and Wanda throw, Timmy pours Aqua Seltzer into the fishbowl. Jorgen is then seen in Timmy's bed but after the Power Pals barge into Timmy's room, Jorgen is no where to be seen.

    • At one point in Emotion Commotion, Timmy says, "I'm bored." But boredom is an emotion.

    • In "Power Pals," Timmy wished for super friends. Timmy should't have been able to wish for that because of the episode, "Super Bike", Cosmo and Wanda said after Super Cat, they didn't want to grant, "super" wishes. So the correct quote would actually be, "I wish I had power pals!" Hence the title of the episode.

    • If Timmy had no emotions, why did he react to Cosmo about to return all of his emotions back? Wouldn't he just not care? (Because Timmy knew he will get scared before the jump, and as Timmy told to Wanda he is now thinking quite logically)

    • When one of the Power Pals chucks a crystal into a drain to create "The Table of Frienditude", the crystal bounces under a table and into a drain directly under said table. However, when the shot pans out, the drain is beside the table, not under it.

    • After Timmy gets out of the pool, he crawls out shaking, and covers himself up with a sign, yet on the video they watched, he jumped out smiling, and doesn't use the sign.

    • Trixie lets Timmy be her boyfriend. When Timmy says it doesn't make him feel though, Trixie rips off a button she put on him, tearing Timmy's shirt. However, when we see Timmy again, which is in a few seconds, his shirt isn't ripped and put together perfectly.

  • QUOTES (15)

    • Cosmo:: Hey Timmy! Got your emotions!
Emotionless Timmy:: Cosmo, no wait don. I. "Cosmo returns Timmy's emotions to him and he looks down, realizingn the situation" Ah! I'm scared to die! I'm guilty that I got my best friend and the girl who's dating him in trouble! AND super mad at SOMEBODY for not waiting to give back my emotions!

    • Timmy: But if they finish their mission they might come back and kick our butts!
A.J: Andromeda Galaxy is 65 million light years away I think we won't see them for a long time!

    • Sanjay: Welcome to the Anti-Timmy Force Five! Dude!

    • A.J: Oh look! It's the kid with no friends.

    • Super Sam: I think we been tricked!
Joan Jet: Should we go back?
Wet Willie: No! He said there was water there! I say go!

    • Power Pals: Come on Timmy! Just a few more steps!

    • Cosmo: (when Timmy puts a parahna in the fishbowl with him) Timmy, Help!
Timmy: Are you nuts? That pirahna will kill me! good luck though.

    • Trixie Tang: I'm ignoring you. I said I'm ignoring you! STOP IGNORING ME IGNORING YOU!!!!

    • Crocker: Explain Timmy's naked appearance with words starting with the letter U.
      AJ: Uncorenated
      Sanjay: Unintelligent
      Chester: Un...un...he was naked!

    • Emotionless Timmy: (Says nothing as sharks look at him hungrily)
Sharks: (Notice that he's not scared) AHHH!! He's not scared!!! He's weird! He's weird!

    • Emotionless Timmy: I don't.

    • Emotionless Timmy: No. Wait, Cosmo. Don't.

    • Emotionless Timmy: Without my emotions I am thinking quite logically. For example, the reason they couldn't build a boat on Gilligan's Island is because it would end the series. The reason they can't build an airplane out of the same material as the little black boxes is because it would be too heavy to fly. And obviously the chicken came before the egg.

    • Veronica: Look who deided to wear clothes today! (Points to Timmy, Timmy does not react, says nothing)
Veronica: SARCASTIC REMARKS NOT WORKING!!! AHHHH!!!

    • Dark Mark: Why do they always run?

  • NOTES (15)

  • ALLUSIONS (12)

    • Emotion Commotion: The daredevil guy putting an apple on Timmy's head and then crossing an arrow through it.
This is a reference to the famous myth story by Conrad Buff, The Apple and the Arrow, on which a father, William Tell, was commanded to shoot an arrow through an apple placed on his own son's head. The son, William, was considered the bravest person on the land.

    • The logo seen on the Power Pals' computer screen is quite similar to the Mac OS logo.

    • Power Pals: All of the Power Pals
Wet Willie: A spoof of Aquaman
Joan Jet: A spoof of Wonder Woman
Super Sam: A spoof of Superman
Dark Mark: A spoof of Batman

    • Emotion Commetion: Aqua Seltzer
Aqua Seltzer, the medicine Timmy uses for Wanda and Cosmo's cold, is just like Alka Seltzer.

    • Joan Jet: Character
Joan Jett's name is taken from a rock musician's real name.

    • Power Pals: Appearance
The Power Pals are a parody of the Justice League of America, who are a group of the most popular D.C. Comics superheroes. The Power Pals consisted of Super Sam, Wet Willy, Joan Jet, and Dark Mark, which are parodies of some of the members of the Justice League, Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Aquaman, and the Flash.

    • Title Card: Pictures of Timmy's Different Emotion Faces
The title card is parody of The Beatles' Hard's Day Night.

    • Timmy: Being emotionless has given me quite some logic!
After this, Timmy mentions why they never made the characters of Gilligan's Island get off the island, because then the show would have to end. Actually, that isn't completely true: Brain had conquered the world twice and everything was normal next episode.

RE: We must to take in count is not the same logic a cartoon than a Live Action TV Show, this a LA show, the sequence of what happen in previous episodes must be followed. You can see Pinky and the Brain in disorder and except for the episodes where Snowball appears, you'll not notice an order, but if you see Full House or ALF in disorder, with time you'll notice it. So Timmy was not wrong.

    • Timmy and the Agent: Dr. Vulcan
It seemed appropriate - logical, even! - that the super-villain that the Agent sends Timmy to rescue Trixie and Chester from, given Timmy's lack of emotions, is named "Dr. Vulcan" - given the Vulcan race's famed devotion to logic (note Timmy's use of the word "logically" and no emotions)

    • Mr. Crocker: For today's vocabulary quiz, watch Turner's naked performance on last night's episode of Dimmsdale's Most Embarssing Videos, and describe it with words that begin with the letter "U"!
The name of this show is a parody of America's Funniest Home Videos.

    • Veronica: He just standing. It is not working! (Screams and runs away)
In a episode of The Simpsons called Bart-Mangled Banner. The bullies picking on Bart. And Bart just stand there. (like what Timmy did) The bullies got scared for him run away. (like Veronica)

    • Timmy: (Monetone) No, wait!
The monetone of that was a parody of Ben Stein because he always talks slow.
