A major staple of any Fantastic Four story is the inevitable battle between the Thing and the Incredible Hulk. Now the Thing has a real strong start, and he is oftentimes forced to use his brain to outsmart the Hulk, but pound for pound, the Hulk wallops him – as it should be. As cool as the Thing is, the Hulk is simply more powerful. I also like how the writers harkened back to the old school storytelling by having Dr. Doom pretending to befriend the Hulk in order to manipulate him into fighting the FF. While this plot device is considered cliché by today’s standards, its nice to see the creators taking some time to reflect the classic storytelling of the Stan Lee / Jack Kirby years of the FF’s run. Also, there are some great cameo guest appearances including, the X-Men, the Scarlet Spider and the Juggernaut (okay, you only see the Juggernaut’s hand coming up out of the water – but it still counts!)
