The Far Country is a 1986 TV movie about Australia after World War II
starring Michael York ("Cabaret"). Based on the popular novel by Nevil
Shute, this romantic drama follows Jennifer Morton (Sigrid Thornton), a
British woman who travels to Australia at the request of her
grandmother. Jennifer soon falls in love with the country and meets Carl
Zlinter (Michael York), a former Czechoslovakian doctor who now works
in a lumber yard to begin a new life away from Eastern Europe.
