In contrast to Project Runway, this Bravo reality project sees teams of fashion designers working together to create an entire line. The series returned for a second season, entitled The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection, on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 10:00pm (ET).moreless

  • This show is beyong terrible! These designers can not design and the cast of judges are dry and boring. This show is a complete waste of air time and I refuse to contribute to its ratings any further.moreless

I will never watch again this garbage again, like never. Bravo failed when it created this show. Like did the producers really just pull these designers off the street becuase none of these people have any talent. The first episode was terrible and I am suprised they ran an episode 2. I hope this show does not return for a 3rd season becuase it will be a big flop! I love fashion and for me to dislike a show primarily based off fashion is really sad. I have never ever been disapointed in a Bravo series until now. This show is a complete failure!moreless

  • New season, new format, pretty much a new show

If you weren't a fan of the first season of "The Fashion Show" don't let that stop you from checking out this new season. The only things that haven't changed are the name and Isaac Mizrahi presence - and even that - at least in the premier episode - is somewhat lessened. The new concept is that the designers have been randomly assigned to two competing "design houses" and each week, they will create a collection based on that episodes challenge, then stage a mini fashion show. Iman is a commanding presence in the show - far moreso than Heidi is on PR - and the first challenge was to use her as a muse in creating a collection. Each designer creates his or her own piece, but those pieces must play well enough with their other house members designs that it becomes a cohesive whole. Isaac came in during the planning process to offer a critique and after that we didn't see him again until the fashion shows and judging. Personally, I would like to have seen more of Isaac as he's just such a big personality, but at the same time, a little Isaac can go a long way. In any event, it's a pretty interesting take on the basic competition-format reality show. Watching the contestants try to stand out while still ensuring their design works as part of a complete collection adds an interesting dynamic, and some of the personalities seem like they should make for some fun popcorn moments.moreless

After watching 5 episodes, I have to say that I like The Fashion Show much better than Project Runway. Sure, there are those who consider it a knock-off but in the fashion world that's not a bad thing. Who among us doesn't have a knock-off scarf, purse or shoes in their closet? But back to my point this show is better and more fun to watch than Project Runway. I used to be a huge PR fan until the lawsuit between Bravo and Weinstein left us high and dry. There's no excuse for treating your loyal fan base like that. It would have been nice if the parties involved had thought of us and not their wallets. But that was too much to ask. But again I digress TFS is witty, clever and the challenges really are challenging. Some of the challenges are about basic sewing skills, which surprisingly some of the designers don't possess. I think it is "fashion forward" to offer the winning designs for sale. Good luck getting one of the winning designs from PR. Unless it was part of the elimination challenge we were out of luck. I recommend giving The Fashion Show a chance. After all it's still more than a month until Project Runway graces us with its presence. Although whether or not to watch PR again, well that's another question for another day and another review/blog.moreless
