  • The Over-The-Hill Gang strikes again!

Erskine, ready for bed, gets his orders over the phone, and calls Jim to invite him to breakfast- in Milwaukee. The duo is sent there to investigate the hijacking of a truck containing 500Gs in furs. They theorize that it's the work of a sophisticated syndicate that has been operating nationally. What they don't yet know is that the culprits are three sweet old men who wouldn't hurt a fly if their lives depended on it. The ringleader, Smitty, is a grandfather who resents having been pensioned out of his job, which he held for thirty years, with the trucking company, now run by the son of Smitty's old boss. In a scheme to teach the new boss a lesson and maybe get his old job back, Smitty gets his poker buddies to help him hijack the truck, thinking the contents are nothing more expensive than cheese, unaware of the precious cargo. The viewer can see right off that Smitty is no dangerous criminal, not with an Ozzie and Harriet household like his. His fellow criminals are the kinds of guys you see playing checkers on The Andy Griffith Show. In a sideplot, Erskine is always too busy to spend time with his gentle but lonely Uncle Walter, who lives in Milwaukee. A nice episode, a welcome break from the usual dead-serious fare of the Bureau.moreless
