I love that line from Mitch. It's what he says to Henry when he thinks the trial is over due to the jury thinking that he's crazy. In a way, it's the thread of the entire show. Abby's anger at Mitch over her torture is that he never stopped, never turned it over to the Feds, didn't know when to stop.

Andrew said in the last episode that it is that very quality that makes him a great lawyer although Abby reminded him that it didn't necessarily make him a great husband. It leaves me wondering about the last episode when he changed his mind and told Jenny not to go into Witness Protection. He tells his story and in retrospect he thinks it wasn't worth it. I wonder if to him that meant giving up.

It also reminds of Winston Churchill's.famous 'Never Give In' speech to harrow School in 1941, amidst World War II. The relevant quote is:

I am addressing myself to the School - surely from this period of ten months this is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.moreless

Mitch: I believe that, but they have evidence.

    • Mitch: Henry, did you kill Margaret?
Henry Kettle: No, but it's too late, I mean, the jury thinks I did, they're convinced I'm crazy.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Abby: I think underprivileged kids need laptops, not a cotillion.
      .
The cotillion is a type of patterned social dance which originated in 18th century France. It has been suggested that it was a forerunner to, among other types of dance, square dancing.
