The Firm

Show Summary

Set in and around Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this reality series focuses on the challenges of the corporate world. Candidates vie for the top slot through a series of challenges that reflect the corporate world. The winner gets $100,000 and a one year contract with a major corporation. Contestants were originally split into two teams, lead by renowned branding guru Peter Pek and diamond retailer Chan Boon Yong, who act as corporate leaders, mentors and judges. Each week, a member of the losing team is eliminated by their respective corporate leader. The show's catchphrase is "You're terminated!".

  • Useful corporate tips, and plenty of laughs from this fast paced, nail biting and gritty corporate reality TV show.

A nice fresh change from the predictable The Apprentice, The Firm has more twists and turns than the Yellow Brick Road. Firstly, I like the idea of having two corporate leaders lead each team. They seem to provide enough advice to the teams, although we don't get to see much of this on camera. The twist of bringing in a CEO towards the end of the show was a nice surprise. It gives everything a different perspective. I also like the time-lapse cuts of the city and of the ability of the show to capture images of bustling everyday life in a busy Asian capital city. Even though this is reality TV, some of the shots and angles are really pretty cool. It is interesting to see how the Asian corporate world deal with issues. Asian management niceties is not quite western-styled brashness, but just as competitive and ruthless.moreless
