  • "Then why don't you show me how it's done?" In this episode, Barry shows Powell just what he's learnt from working with him.

This is my favourite episode that exists of The Flash. I loved the way that Barry didn't have to be in costume when he went to talk to Powell, who is in a way, the only male who knows his secret and hasn't/doesn't die. The relationship between the hero and ex-hero is sometimes hilarius. Gotta love the way they work together. I think if the series had been longer it would have been good to see Barry work with other superheroes, but I guess I'll leave that to the JLA. The villian was a bit obvious in this one, you can almost guess as soon as he walks into the room. Rich millionaire who knows nightshade... Yes, that's the one. "Why don't you give up this justice thing and donate some of your millions to a poverty program?"

Powell/Nightshade played a good mentor figure towards Barry, and I would have looked forward to seeing him again.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • When Kline gives his first show, the establishing outside shot of the station shows that it's night. Confirming this, later Desmond says that Kline's live show is at 10 p.m. However, as Kline speaks with Keefe and Frost, Tina and Barry are watching and it's broad daylight outside the windows of Barry's apartment.

    • The newspaper article about Derek's arrest spells his last name "Bohannon." However, the credits at the end spell the last name "Bohannan."

    • The mural on Nightshade's garage has changed since "Ghost in the Machine." It now reads "Crack Kills" rather than "Our world is in your hands - love it or lose it."

  • QUOTES (9)

    • Curtis: It should have been all three of us. You, me, and The Flash.
Desmond: Yeah, just a bunch of crimefighters out murdering the bad guys.

    • Steve 4K: What the hell are you?
      Deadly Nightshade: Justice.

    • Barry: You saved my life, and you're the only other person I know who wears the mask.
Desmond: Oh, no. Wore. I came out of retirement for that Ghost business. Thought I was twenty-five again.

    • Deadly Nightshade: Your crimes have finally caught up with you.
Johnny Dortmunder: Hey, I did my 20 years. You got some beef, let's talk it over.
Deadly Nightshade: The highway to hell is paved with talk. (guns down Johnny with Uzis) Actions speak louder than words.

    • Flash: Next time, just tell me where we're headed.
Desmond: The hell with that. Then you'd end up beating me here. When I go to this much trouble, I want to get my money's worth.

    • Pearl: (to The Flash) You look like my second husband...Eddie. Only naked.

    • Fosnight: (as The Flash runs off) He ought to slow down. He's going to give himself a coronary.

    • Joe Kline: Dr. Frost said that you were a killer. Would you like to respond?
Flash: Get that mic out of my face!
Joe Kline: Then how about sharing the real you with our audience?
Nightshade: (shoots tranquilizer dart into Kline) Ask his agent.

    • Barry: Actually, I'm meeting someone for dinner.
      Desmond: Oh. Anybody I know?
      Rebecca: Professionally and personally.
      Desmond: (wolf whistles at Rebecca)
Rebecca: I'll take that as a compliment, you sexist pig.

  • NOTES (1)

  • ALLUSIONS (4)

    • Deadly Nightshade: The highway to hell is paved with talk.
This is a take on the old proverb, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." A version of the proverb was first used in the 12th century in Europe.

    • Julius Schwartz:
The confidential name on the file Garfield reads is "Police Captain Julius Schwartz." Julius Schwartz created the Silver Age Flash for DC Comics.

    • Gorilla Grodd:
The Nightshade comments that he hasn't seen Fosnight since he was short conning for Gorilla Grodd. Gorilla Grodd is literally a gorilla from a race of super intelligent gorillas in Africa. Grodd is one of Flash's villains and has telepathic powers.

    • Deadly Nightshade:
The title is appropriate to the storyline, but it is also the folk name for the plant belladonna, one of the most poisonous plants in the Western Hemisphere.
