When Barry is talking with Mrs. Grosso and Julio is going through the items in the shop looking for a gift the silver statue Julio finds is the robot from the 1927 silent film Metropolis, the same robot that inspired George Lucas's vision of C3PO.
During Megan's research of news sightings of the Flash, one mentions the pool hall explosion that occurred in the later aired No Honor Among Thieves (Thieves was actually the first episode produced after the pilot).
Barry: I wear a mask to protect the people I know and love who might get hurt for what I do. Megan: You're a cop. You know wearing masks are illegal. Barry: Oh, right. But what would you do? Run through the street stark naked at 350 miles an hour with bells on your toes?
The Flash uses a roulette wheel to deflect bullets - he won't catch them until "Double Vision".
Carter Hall During her first scene in the episode Dr. McGee mentions a Dr. Carter Hall. That's the secret identity of "Hawkman," another DC Comics character.
The title of this episode is an allusion to the 1977 song of the same name by Elvis Costello.
