Episode Summary

EDIT
Fred and Barney sign up for dance lessons at Arthur Quarry's so that they do not humiliate themselves at the charity ball. Their excuse that they have joined the volunteer fire department falls apart when Betty and Wilma realize that the all-stone town of Bedrock is fire proof. The wives then suspect that their husbands are slipping out to meet other women.moreless

  • Fred and Barney secretly take ballroom dance lessons.

    7.9
"Arthur Quarry's Dance Class" was recorded Aug. 22, 1960, and originally aired Jan. 13, 1961.

These are my comments and questions:

    1. The 1960 theme and opening credits are used.

    2. In this episode, you learn Joe Rockhead owns Rockhead Garage and is a volunteer fireman.

    3. Arthur Quarry is, of course, a parody of dance instructor Arthur Murray.

    4. Wilma had a childhood friend named Gussie Gravelpit. She is now Mrs. Beardsley Gotrocks III.

    5. The second appearance of Dino, who is red this time.

    6. The basic plot of this episode--a guy secretly taking ballroom dance lessons so that he can go dancing with his wife--is the same plot of the contemporary movies, the Japanese film "Shall We Dance?" and its American remake "Shall We Dance."moreless
