  • Fred has Dino audition for a part on Dino's favorite television show "The Adventures of Sassie". A decision Fred and Dino will soon regret.

    9.5
On my list of the best episodes of "The Flintstones" "Dino Goes to Hollyrock" ranks third behind "Dr. Sinister" and "Ann-Margrock Presents". This classic episode will make you laugh and cry before it's over. There are many laughs in this episode from Dino dragging Fred to the supermarket to Dino's rehearsal for the part on "The Adventures of Sassie". Those scenes are still funny to watch to this day. As good as the laughs are, by far the best part of this episode is the very emotional scene of a devastated Fred returning home after Dino's rehearsal. The scene of Fred lighting the candle with the money he was paid and then throwing it in the fire hit me right in the heart from the second I first saw it as a kid and has stayed with me ever since. You can feel Fred's sadness. A truly masterful scene. Then the sadness turns to pure joy when Dino comes home. "Pure joy" are two words that perfectly describe "Dino Goes to Hollyrock". A great episode in a classic television series.moreless
  • Dino's obession with Sassie got my Flinstones intrest back.

    10
This is one of my favorite episodes. Too bad the reruns didn't point out the first time the familar Flinstones theme was used. Fred and Barney want to see a boxing championship, but Dino wants to watch Sassie on ABC (they just said "channel 7", but I find it an inside joke on the Flinstones' orginial network). Dino watches Sassie, but then it breaks for a word from the sponsor. The announcer says on the commercial that if you send in 10 cans of Dino-Gro, you'd get an autograph from Sassie. Dino pulls Fred to the grocery store to buy 10 cans of, you guessed it. Dino tries to run away, but Fred wants has a better idea. He sends Dino to audition for Sassie, Dino got the job and acts right, but then he finds out the downsides to fame.
