  • Ship of fools!

Mr. Slate told Fred to come over to paint his ship. I bet that the words "paint his ship" didn't cross his mind. it's just another excuse for jacking off. He and the family along with Barney and the family boarded the ship to party. They did everything, except paint the ship. Next thing they know, Fred and Barney were on an island and they meet Friday. who is also on the island? Mr. Slate. Then the valcano eurpted with the use of a button and Fred saves the day by getting the trapped vistors off the island. A very good episode. Too bad ABC didn't take notice before cancelling the series.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • The songs in this episode are 'The Bounding Main', 'Hail Brittania' and 'For He's a Jolly Good Fellow'.

    • No one can escape the volcano because we see "the tracks" are blocked with boiling lava. But the tour tram was just shown traveling on the ground without any tracks!

  • QUOTES (4)

    • (After Slate finds out that Fred let his yacht drift away from the dock)
Mr. Slate: Flintstone, you...you ship-lifter! Not only are you fired, but I'm charging you with grand larceny, insubordination, mutiny and piracy!
Barney: Don't worry, Fred. A good lawyer might get you off with life.

    • Fred: That darn Slate, speeding us up. Who does he think he is? And as for that flunky foreman of his, I have a good mind to--
      Foreman: Flintstone!
Fred: Yes, Mr. Flunky-- I-I-I mean, yes, Mr. Foreman?

    • (After Fred saved everyone from the volcano)
Slate: I'm dropping all those charges and rehiring you.
Fred: Why...why, thank you, boss, and if there's anything else I can ever do--
Slate: Well, as a matter of fact, there is!
(Later, Fred is painting Slate's yacht)
      Barney: How's it going, Fred?
Fred: Ohh, that ingrate, making me paint after I saved his life. (Slate sticks his head out of a nearby window, Fred accidentally paints his face) I have a good mind to--
Slate: Flintstone! Ooh! Look at this! Red paint!
Fred: I'm, uh...I'm sorry, sir. Would you prefer some other color?

    • Wilma: It's good to be home again, isn't it, Fred?
Fred: Yeah, but I sorta miss that yacht. I guess I was meant for the sea.
Wilma: That's exactly what Boss Slate said when he tried to throw you overboard.

  • NOTES (1)

    • Episode Name: Fred's Island

This episode basically alludes to the show Gilligan's Island in that Fred crashes Mr. Slate's boat on a deserted island.
