  • The musical tale of "Charlie" and "Irving."

    10
"The Drive-In" was recorded on April 25, 1960, and aired on Dec. 23, 1960.

These are my comments and questions about the episode:

    1. This is my personal favorite of the first season episodes. I love the song that "Charlie" and "Irving" sing! When I was in grade school, my classmates and I would sing it on the playground the day after this episode aired.

    2. The 1960 theme and opening credits are used.

    3. Daisy is in blue. She is Charlie. Gwen is in green. She is dating Irving. One of them--I've never figured out which--has a shyster boyfriend named Eddie.

    4. In the last scene, Wilma's and Betty's dresses switch colors!moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • At 01:28 on the episode time counter, the mailbox has FUNTSTONE instead of FLINTSTONE. This could be because the upper case I has been blended into the upper case L therefore appearing as FUNTSTONE.

    • The colors of Wilma and Betty's dresses switch throughout th final scene at the Rockadaro.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Burger on a Bun (The Car Hop Song):
Here we come on the run, With a burger on a bun,
And a dab of coleslaw on the side.

Your lips we will tickle, With a great dill pickle,
And all of our potatoes are french fried, fried, fried,

      Our burgers can't be beat,
'Cause we grind our own meat,
      Grind, grind, grind, grind, grind,

      When you drive away,
      You'll really hear us say,
We bid you bye, bye, bye, bye, bye,
We bid you bye, bye, bye, bye, bye!

      (or)

      When you drive away,
      A tip upon our tray
We hope to find, find, find, find, find
We hope to find, find, find, find, find.

(or, for Betty and Wilma's version)

      Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble
Are to blame for all our trouble
Spoken: And if they think that we'll forget
Sung: They're outta their mind, mind, mind, mind, mind!!

    • Barney: Did you ever hear the one about the monkey who played piano at parties?
      Betty: (as a waitress) No.
Barney: He stuck his tail in a lady's cup and she said, "Do you know your tail's in my coffee?" and he says "No, but if you can whistle it, I'll try and play it!"
