A The Following Community
FOX (ended 2015)

Fox's serial-killer drama The Following has a new leader. Jennifer Johnson has been hired as the day-to-day showrunner for the Kevin Bacon-starring series as it heads into its third season, Deadline reports.

Johnson steps in to replace series creator Kevin Williamson as Williamson moves on to preside over his new CBS show Stalker. However, Williamson will remain on board The Following as an executive producer and will still be heavily involved in the show.

Johnson and Fox have a long history; her resume at the network includes showrunning duties on 2012's Alcatraz, as well as a consulting producer credit on Touch and co-executive producer status on Gang Related

Do you think Johnson can help The Following?

Well it'll be interesting to see if maybe a new showrunner will improve the quality of the FBI....

I was thinking perhaps there is hope for the show with someone new. Greatly disappointed that Williamson is still running things from far.

I loved Maggie Q and I just hope he does not make a mess of stalker as well.

I'm almost surprised there's no paragraph celebrating the hiring of a woman as showrunner for all the complaining we hear about lack of diversity. Is The Following actually owned by Fox or would the production company be responsible for hiring Johnson as the showrunner?

That's what got my attention at first as well, so very few women seem to be running shows... But then I saw what she's done before and well, I guess I understand that everybody forgot about gender...

And here I am forgetting that The Following got renewed at all.

Alcatraz and Touch, huh? LOL, well, it's not like this show could actually get worse.

Jennifer Johnson worked on Alcatraz, Touch, and Gang Related? God help us all.

If her "special talents" help bring about the demise of this dud even faster, so much the better. It's hard to believe this show is getting a third season.

She'll make the show even worse, but FOX will still give it a three-season renewal. Quality doesn't matter anymore on this network.

Why do you care?

That could be asked/said of pretty much every single comment on every single article at this site. Really, it could be asked about all TV shows and movies in general. Why do any of us care about what goes on in front of or behind the screens? I can't answer that but I care. You must care, too, at least somewhat, or you wouldn't be here either.

As to this show specifically, I think it's one of the silliest shows of its type Fox has ever produced. I was amazed that it got a second season, to say nothing of a third. The sooner it's gone, the sooner the network can free up that time slot to try again with hopefully much better results.

I was about to say the same thing. The last three shows she worked on were Alcatraz, Touch and Chase. All of them were cancelled.

That makes sense because Chase was awful too.

I don't think she ran the show on any of those series, which may or may not have been a good thing.

hmm, so that's good news then?

At this point can anyone hurt it more than it's hurt itself?

Seriously? There was a second season?

I didn't even knew the 1st season had finished.

Making Grumpyclown the head writer would be a step in the right direction, but in actuality only the pushing of the cancellation button can help The Following.
