Here's How The Fosters Will Address the Orlando Shooting in Its Season Premiere

Just days after the mass shooting in an Orlando gay nightclub traumatized the country, The Fosters will air a special PSA ahead of its Season 4 premiere on Monday—which coincidentally centers on a school shooting.

Freeform confirmed to TV.com that Fosters stars Cierra Ramirez and Sherri Saum will deliver a special message dedicated to the victims of the Orlando attack before the episode airs. The premiere and second episode of the season, scheduled before the Orlando incident became the worst mass shooting in American history, will tackle gun violence and the trauma after Mariana's (Ramirez) boyfriend Nick (Louis Hunter) steals his father's gun and brings it to school.

"It's something that's happening so much it's almost becoming normal," executive producer Joanna Johnson previously told TV.com. "It almost seems like a weekly occurrence that someone is taking a gun to school. We wanted ...

See Exclusive Photos of The Fosters' Terrifying School Shooting Premiere

The Fosters takes on school shootings and gun violence in its two-part Season 4 premiere later this month, and TV.com has the first look photos of a harrowing scene, in which a SWAT has Anchor Beach on lockdown.

The drama, which sadly mirrors an all-too-familiar ritual across the country, picks up seconds after last season's finale when Nick (Louis Hunter) caught his girlfriend Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) kissing another guy and brings a gun to school in retaliation.

"It's really pretty harrowing," executive producer Joanna Johnson tells TV.com. "It's something that's happening so much it's almost becoming normal. It almost seems like a weekly occurrence that someone is taking a gun to school. We wanted to explore what the impact of this has on our schools and has on our kids."

The ramifications of Nick's actions will echo throughout the season as everyone ...

The season premiere of The Fostersstarts off with a bang... and that's before anyone realizes that Nick (Louis Hunter) has a gun. The episode picks up moments after the Season 3 finale, with Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum) reeling from Callie's (Maia Mitchell) confession that she and Brandon (David Lambert) slept together.

Catch up on all this week's Mega Buzz!

But that's just the tip of the iceberg. "Some other secrets have to come out -- it's not just the one thing," executive producer Joanna Johnson teases. "[Stef and Lena] are blown away and blindsided. They also feel betrayed. They feel like the trust they put into Brandon and Callie was clearly for naught."

Actress Keiko Elizabeth Chats About the Season Three Finale of ‘The Fosters’

In the Season Three finale of The Fosters, a tragedy brings the family together. This heartbreaking loss leads to a moral quandary for Callie (Maia Mitchell) that has her questioning her loyalties.

Actress Keiko Elizabeth stepped into the drama as Reporter Carol Kim pressing Callie for answers.

I recently caught up with Keiko Elizabeth to find out more about working on the hit family show.

Q: Tell us about your appearance on the season finale of The Fosters?

KEIKO: I play reporter Carol Kim, an opportunistic reporter who's pushing Callie to say something sensational on camera. I pursue her at her school and challenge her with some really inflammatory accusations in the hopes that she'll take the bait. What happens is that Callie learns some disturbing information about Justina Marks, who she's been working closely with on the Fost and Found launch. When private information gets "leaked ...Read more
