Glinda, The Good Witch
Wizard of Song
The Wizard mysteriously disappeared when Glinda arrived in the Emerald City. Where did he go?
It's very dangerous to be in a vehicle during a strong windstorm especially in a convertible.
If Marina had known that the shoes could take her home the minute she put them on, she'd have gotten home sooner. But then she wouldn't have met Scarecrow, Tin Woman, and Cowardly Lion, and they and the Bad Witch would've stayed the same forever.
How was Marina going to explain to her friends how the car got messy during the windstorm?
At the beginning, when the camera is on Kiki and Twist, Marina goes past Kiki. But when the camera is on all four Fresh Beats, Marina is seen just leaving her drum set.
Marina could've really gotten hurt during the twister scene. The car is convertible, so something could've hit her in the head very badly.
Marina was proven to be even more afraid of the Bad Witch than Cowardly Lion; you can tell by her facial expression of fear when she said, "Me too."
The Bad Witch was far too kind to want to hurt Marina. Of course the Bad Witch had to catch to Marina to get her sparkly shoes but said nothing about doing any physical harm to her.
Wouldn't Marina have felt the Bad Witch lifting her feet to get her shoes off when she was sleeping?
Reply:The spell the Bad Witch put on the pillows is what Marina to not feel a thing (except for when Scarecrow hit her in the head with the pillows to save her from the spell).
Marina was dressed as Dorothy for most of this movie since she's the Dorothy character. She had her hair in pigtails and was wearing a Dorothy dress. Unlike Dorothy, who had her hair down when she saw the Wizard, Marina had her hair in pigtails for the whole dream.
Tin Woman is the first tin woodswoman in a Wizard of Oz story (not to mention the fact that she never rusted).
Twist: Where have you been?
Marina: I was in this amazing land with witches and wizards and...I think it was a dream. But you were there and you were there and you were there...
Marina: Hanging out with you guys really reminds me of being home with my friends
Tin Woman: Aww, that's so sweet!
Marina: (very sadly) Oh, guys. If I hadn't left rehearsal, I'd be with you right now
Glinda: (appears upside-down in a bubble) Whoa!
(Marina looks at Glinda in surprise)
Glinda: Why are you all upside-down? (realizes it is she who is upside-down) It's me, isn't it?
(Marina smiles and nods with a sad yet giggly facial expression. Glinda turns herself back rightside-up)
Glinda: All better now
Marina: (sadly) Glinda, I came all this way for nothing. The Wizard couldn't help me, and now I'm never going home
Glinda: Don't worry, Marina. You're going home
Marina: I am? How?
Glinda: You had the power all along. It's in your shoes
(Marina looks down at her feet. The shoes sparkle before her very eyes)
Marina: (happily) Guys, did you hear that? I'm going home!
Marina: (to the viewers, shivering) I don't feel like going home (walks along and sees shoes in a shoe store) Wow, nice shoes
(Marina takes a look at the shoes through the window. Just as she decides to go in, the owner comes over and turns the sign to closed, showing Marina a facial expression of apology)
Marina: (disappointed) Closed?
(It gets windier, and the shivering Marina decides to go back to rehearsal. When she gets in the car, it gets very windy)
Marina: Whoo, it's really windy now! Oh!
(A flower pillow flies into Marina's face. She tosses the pillow aside, and a blue pillow flies into her face. Suddenly she finds herself up in a windstorm)
Marina: Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!
Marina: Oh, I can't stay. I, I've gotta get home to my friends
Glinda: You need to go see the Wizard of Song. He'll help you get home
Marina: Wizard? I've never met a wizard before.
Marina: Oh, I'm not a witch at all. Are you a witch?
Glinda: Oh, yes. I'm one of the good ones. The name's Glinda (shakes hands with Marina)
Marina: I'm Marina
Glinda: Come one out, Juniorkins!
(The Juniorkins come out)
Glinda: (offscreen) We've got a good one
(The Juniorkins come over to greet Marina)
Marina: Wow. Hey, kids. Cool hats. This place is awesome!
Glinda: Just follow the Yellow Road. A little traveling music please
(The Yellow Road travel song "Music (Keeps Me Movin') begins. Marina's shoes take over her feet)
Juniorkins: (watch as the shoes take over Marina's feet) Get yourself on the dance floor right now. Get your music on! I know you know how. Let the rhythm take over your two feet
Juniorkins & Marina: There is nothing like a fine fresh beat. (Marina spins around with her arms up. Four Juniorkins who look like the Junior Beats dance in a circle around her) Just grab a friend ang go! Let's play! Music! It really keeps me movin'! (begin the Yellow Road skip) Let's get it going! Alright! Our smiles are showing. Music! It puts the groove in what you're doing! Let's get excited! Alright! Don't try to fight it.
(The Juniorkins watch as the sparkly dancing shoes take over Marina's feet)
Juniorkins & Marina: Music! It really keeps me movin'! Let's get it going! Alright! Our smiles are showing!
(Marina begins skipping down the Yellow Road, and the Juniorkins waved goodbye to her)
Juniorkins & Marina: Music! It puts the groove in what you're doing!
Juniorkins: Let's get excited! Alright! Don't try to fight it.
(Glinda comes out of a bush and tells Marina to follow the Yellow Road as far as it goes. Marina curtsies and begins her journey.)
Juniorkins: We're playing harmony in the key of you and me. It's music!
Scarecrow: Wouldn't it be cool if we all did one more number before you had to go?
Marina: (smiling) Oh, that would be cool, Scarecrow
(The song "So Fresh to Be Home" begins)
All: Yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah!
Marina: Oh, life is full of adventure. I'm so glad I met you. I won't forget you. But now it's time to get back to where I belong. That's where I wanna be
All: There's no better way to end this special day. Can't wait to get home to faces I know! It's better than ever to see my friends. It's true. It's gonna feel brand new. So good to be home! Yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah!
Marina: Oh, there are mountains to climb
All: So high I can touch the sky, but it's not the same
Tin Woman: 'Cause home's the sweetest horizon. Just close your eyes, and you're gonna find your way.
All: You know just what to do. The power's inside you. Can't wait to get home to faces I know! It's better than ever to see my friends. It's true. It's gonna feel brand new. So sweet to be home!
Scarecrow: Get back. Someone take me home. Gotta get back. I've been gone too long. And I know now there's no better place. Nowhere I'd rather be. No how, no way. So long. I'm headed back to the backyard way back, laid back where my friends are 'cause I've been away to everywhere and learned this. There's nothing better than the return trip. Catch my drift? C'mon!
All: It's great to be home to faces I know! It's better than ever to see my friends. It's true, because it feels brand new.
So fresh to be home!
So fresh to be home!
So fresh to be home!
Yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah!
Glinda: Uh-oh. A song coming on. Let's get your dancing shoes on
(The song "Another Perfect Day" begins)
Juniorkins: Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. I jump up like the sun 'cause a new adventure has just begun. I can barely wait to lace up my shoes. Morning's like a smile I just can't refuse
Juniorkins & Marina: Can you feel it? Can you feel it? Just another perfect day! Bring it on 'cause I'm on my way. I've got a laugh to share. I've got a dream to chase. Always something new to learn. Can't wait to take my turn. I'm gonna turn it up 'cause it's another perfect, perfect day!
Juniorkins: All the world is my show. Like a magic carpet ride, I'll make up as I go. And I won't want it to end. Tonight I'll be dreaming and awake again. It's tomorrow, and tomorrow's...
Juniorkins & Marina: Just another perfect day! Bring it on 'cause I'm on my way. I've got a laugh to share. I've got a dream to chase. Always something new to learn. Can't wait to take my turn. I'm gonna turn it up 'cause it's another perfect, pefect day!
Marina: It's perfect!
Juniorkins: What I'm feeling. I really don't know what else to say. The sun's beaming, and everything is going my way. So if you're going my way, then let me know. Are you feeling kinda perfect? I'm pretty sure it's just another perfect day! Bring it on 'cause I'm on my way. I've got a laugh to share. I've got a dream to chase. Always something new to learn. Can't wait to take my turn. I'm gonna turn it up 'cause it's another perfect, perfect, I'm gonna turn it up 'cause it's another perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect day! Whoo!
Marina: (very scared) Oh, guys, we've gotta go back to the Bad Witch's hut. Oh, but we can't go back there; she's gonna tried to take my shoes again
(Marina wakes up, finding herself in a strange new world)
Marina: (in amazement) Whoa (gets out of the car) Where am I? (chuckles) Little houses. What is this place? (finds herself in a Dorothy dress) Wha? What am I wearing? (gasps in amazement when she sees a beautiful pair of shoes) Those shoes! (hears whispering and giggling) Alright, who's whispering? Who's there?
Scarecrow: What? Aw, c'mon! I gotta do something. This ain't right. I, I'll keep my friends awake with a pillow fight. Oh, I'm sorry, Marina. This won't be pretty, but we've gotta get our friends to the Emerald City. Here goes!
(Scarecrow takes some pillows and hits Marina in the head with them. Marina wakes up with a giggly expression on her face)
Marina: (giggling) Scarecrow!
Marina: No brain?
Scarecrow: No. See? Only straw (pulls some straw out of his hat)
Marina: No, no, no (takes the straw Scarecrow pulled out) Don't do that
Lion: Oh, do you think we can? But what if we get lost or separated? Or worse!
Marina: (frightened) You don't mean...
Tin Woman: I think he means...
Scarecrow: What does he mean?
Lion, Marina, and Tin Woman: The Bad Witch!
Lion: Oh, I get scared just thinking about her
Marina: (very afraid) Me too
Tin Woman: Me too too
Marina: (frightened by the Scarecrow's voice) Alright, who said that?
Scarecrow: Oh, that was me
(Marina turns to Scarecrow and gasps in astonishment)
Scarecrow: Oh! Yeah, that was me. I talk the talk, up here chillin' with the old corn branch, or the corn cob. That was me. I talk the talk, up here chillin' with the old corn...
Scarecrow: (looks dreamily at Marina, impressed with her rhyme) Oh, say! That was great
Marina: Wow! You're a rapping scarecrow!
Scarecrow: Yeah, I guess so. Now who are you, and what are you doing?
Marina: Oh, I'm Marina, and I'm a drummer
(Marina drums a rhythm on her legs)
Marina: (to Tin Woman) Hey, why don't you come with us to see the Wizard of Song? He's going to help me get home to my friends, and he's going get the Scarecrow a brain. I'm sure he could give you a heart
Tin Woman: Really? (happily) Kickin'!
Marina: (surprised) What'd you just say?
(Tin Woman kicks a can in front of her)
Tin Woman: (giggling) Kickin'. It's really fun
Marina: Oh, for a minute, you reminded me of an old friend
Bad Witch: You can't run in these!
(The Bad Witch waves her wand, and giant cupcakes appear on Marina's feet)
Marina: (scared) Guys! I'm stuck!
Scarecrow: (offscreen) What?
Marina: My feet are stuck in giant cupcakes!
(Scarecrow, Tin Woman, and Lion run to Marina's rescue. Scarecrow tries to pull her out)
Bad Witch: I've got you now! Those shoes are mine! (lets out evil cackle and bends down to Marina's feet)
Marina: (in annoyance) Alright! Alright! Cut the cackle! (calmly) Bad Witch, why do you want these shoes so bad?
Marina: (fearfully) Who's that?
Glinda: That would be the Bad Witch
Marina: Bad Witch? How bad?
(The Bad Witch appears, laughing wickedly)
Bad Witch: I want those sparkly shoes (walks over to the shoes) Come to Bad Witch!
(Glinda quickly transfers the shoes to Marina's feet, and the Bad Witch runs over to Marina)
Bad Witch: (jealously) What? No fair. How come she gets to wear them?
Glinda: You know the rules. The shoes get to choose, and they chose Marina
Glinda: Just close your eyes and tell us your heart's desire
Marina: (closes her eyes) I want to go home to my band 'cause there's no band like the Fresh Beat Band. There's no band like the Fresh Beat Band. There's no band like the Fresh Beat Band. (opens her eyes) Glinda, it's not working
Glinda: Oh, did I forget something? Shoes, heart's desire...oh, dance
Marina: (closes her eyes and dances as the shoes light up) There's no band like the Fresh Beat Band. There's no band like the Fresh Beat Band. There's no band like the Fresh Beat Band! There's no band like the Fresh Beat Band!
(The scene changes to Marina sleeping in the Fresh Beats' car)
Marina: (in her sleep) There's no band like the Fresh Beat Band. There's no band like the Fresh Beat Band. There's no band like the (wakes up) Wow, I'm home!
Shout: Wow, what a great dream
Kiki: (looks down at Marina's feet) Wow, what great shoes (looks at Marina with her mouth hanging open in amazement)
(Everyone looks down at Marina's feet. When the camera is on Marina's feet, it is shown that she's still wearing her sparkly dancing shoes!)
When Marina realized that her adventure was all a dream, Kiki showed a facial expression that tells us viewers that Marina is always imagining things.
The song Another Perfect Daywas sung by Sarah Chalke (Glinda), Tara Perry (Marina), and the kids who play the Juniorkins.
This is the first TV special to feature Tara Perry as Marina.
When Scarecrow, Tin Woman, Lion, and Bad Witch were about to get into a group hug with Marina, she looked like she was going to cry.
Scarecrow, Tin Woman, and Cowardly Lion all did something that made Marina think of her bandmates by replying with Kiki's, Twist's, and Shout's phrases.
Scarecrow: Sweet! & Wouldn't it be cool if...?
Tin Woman: Kickin'!
Cowardly Lion: Cool beans!
Because Marina is the Dorothy character, she makes a bigger appearance than Kiki, Twist, and Shout although Tara Perry's castmates do play three of the Oz characters.
This is Tara Perry's favorite episode.
It's possible that Marina still owns the sparkly shoes since they were still on her feet when she woke up. But they haven't been seen since.

Twist the Scarecrow
Kiki the Tin Woman (the first Tin Woman in a Wizard of Oz story)
