  • Will does stand up

    8.0
Will has a friend from Philadelphia comes to visit. I like this character. Keith, like Will is fun and outgoing, but unlike Will's other friends has a had on his shoulders. Will has always had potential but has not used it because he is charismatic. When he bombs at the Comedy Club it helped his grow a bit. While I know this is a goof and probably a small part, but when Keith mentions Will's Uncle Lou, I wonder if Will just says that Lou is his uncle. There will be more on Lou later in Season 4. The B Story was funny. I thought it was really funny how Phillp tried to force together family time. This was overall a nice episode.moreless

A very entertaining episode, this installment of The Fresh Price has great character development from Will’s Philadelphia past and Philip’s need for attention from his kids when Vivian’s gone.

Keith is a great character introduction for this episode and shows the positive influences Will had before he moved to Bel Air and brings some great humour to the table, especially in his stand up routine and the chivalry joint, and I found the episode very revealing of both Will’s past and his friendships.

Phil trying to hang out with his kids is a great subplot and is also a laugh a minute storyline with great jokes involving Philip chasing the car (or maybe his shirt was stuck) and the false happy family that doesn’t last long.

Overall, I found this episode very funny and Keith is a welcome addition to the episode.moreless
  • stupid

    2.0
the only funny part was when carlton went WEE but that stupid dude who stayed at the Banks\'s house was just so NOT funny

i think at the end the joke he made was about vegetarian coz if it was hes just a (i dont know the word for a very stupid annoying) man

2 for the carltons wee -8 for the joke at the end

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Goof: When Keith and Will are trying to see who is more funny Kieth says that jokes are what your Uncle Lou tells at a wedding. Will doesn't have an uncle named Lou. That's his father's name.

    • Goof: When Philip and the kids are in the family room doing the forced bonding there was classical music playing in the background. When they decide they can't take the forced family moment anymore, the music just suddenly stops, even though no one went to turn it off or used a remote to turn it off.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Will: Come on, Uncle Phil, if you let Keith stay...I'll quit calling 976 numbers on your car phone...okay, I'll take you out to Chuck E. Cheese and tell the head rat it's your birthday...I'll go to an out of state college.
      Philip: Keith my boy!

    • Will: I bet Sinbad's parents supported him, when he wanted to be a comedian.
Philip: They named him Sinbad! He had two options: pirate or comic!

    • Keith: White people get to do things black people don't get to do. Elvis been dead 15 years, people still see him. You never hear somebody say 'I just saw Marvin Gaye! He was at the MALL! Well you know I heard it through the grapevine!'

    • Keith: Black parents and white parents are just different, no better no worse, like Poltergeist. Little white girl gets trapped in the TV the mom's all hysterics crying 'ahhhhhhhh! Carolyn's in the TV what' we gonna do?' You know if that had been a black mama she would've been proud, she'd call her friends 'Girl! Turn to channel 2, my baby's on TV!'

    • Keith: Black people and white people are just different, no better no worse. You see a white guy in the unemployment line going '$210 a week? How the hell am I gonna live on $210 a week?' There'll be a brother behind him, '$210 a week?! For nothing? Baby get the kids we done come up!'

    • Keith: We've been broke since the day before forever. We get around being poor by putting things on layaway, and we leave it there for a long time, don't we? I know brothers that still got bell bottoms on layaway. You ever leave something on layaway so long you don't even recognize it? 'Damn, when'd I ge tan 8-track tape player? It's paid for now'.

    • Will: Knock, knock.
      Phil: Who's there?
      Will: Amy Fisher
      Phil: Amy...
      Will: BANG!

    • Will: Yabba dabba doo, I'm in the showcase too!
