Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • Quite an amusing, and quite a meaningful episode!

One of the eleven episodes that have been released thus far in the series, this is clearly one of the best. On a repeat viewing, this episode not only maintained a powerful emotional core but really addressed issues regarding the distinction between hero and loser.

Firstly, the episode is perfectly entertaining and full of humorous moments but it is the subtle character work and the relationship building that are most impressive about this episode. The relationship between Uncle Phil and Will is explored, based around their mutual interests. Then, Carlton's insecurities about his failure to appease his father in EACH of his extracurricular activities is explored and his ego is established.

However, it remains the episode's commentary on the importance of teamwork that makes this quite an engaging episode. It well establishes and develops certain relationships on the show and it has a rather resonating and powerful ending scene.

  • Will joins the basketball team

This was a better episode then last one. This was another episode that explored Will's and Phillp's realtionship again. This was an episode where Will and Phillp bond for the first time. This was the first time that bonded. What made this better was how this affected Carlton. When Will becomes this good basketball player and gets an ego it's with the times of how basketball players are having more of an ego. While this was a small part I liked how Jazz and G bet on the game. This doesn't happen very often in the series. A new character is introduced who I like too in Coach Smiley. Even he appears in only a few episodes, I still like his character. A good funny episode with some fun laughs.moreless
  • this was a good ep

in this ep of the fresh prince carlton gets jelous of will because he is good at basketball and philp is going to all the games and cheering will on and carlton gets mad and complaines and will becomes a star on the team and the coach just says to pass the ball to will and his dad has a talk with will about it and will decides maybe what he is doing is wrong so at the last shot he pas to carlton who misses the shot but they become closer in the end this was a good epmoreless
  • Carlton is Jealous of Will who becomes star of the belair prep academy basketball team.

This is the first episode to show some growth in both Carlton and Will. I felt that Carlton was begin a big baby through out this whole episode and that will should've just punched him one good time.

When Will is recruited to play for the Bel-air prep academy basketball team he becomes an instant star mainly because everyone else on the team couldn't tell the hoop from there a$$. But when Uncle phil starts taking notice of Will's talent and starts showing up at the games and taking Will to Laker games Carlton feels Jealous and left out.

I thought this was a sad episode because I could've kind of related to Carlton but Will's right in something he said in the episode, he said that every since he showed up to bel air, his been yelled at home, yelled at school, always grounded, always in detention and that he finally does something that someone proud of and he should just stop begin such a big baby about it.

But in the end I think both Will and Carlton kinda matured.moreless
  • I cant belive that carlation is jelous of will that is a first

I could not belive my eyes when I saw this eposiode. The thought that caraltion was jellous of Will. Normaly carlation is the one showing off and stuff but this time it was a total flip how ever I also think that phil was showing favorts as caraltion pointed out and show was the coach for that mater and the sad part is that is so true how coaches show favs to star players and not being a athlete I don't know what am talking about gulity as can be how ever I think coaches should not show favertism and incurage players to play like a team and not pick and choces who they like the bestmoreless

  • TRIVIA (5)

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Carlton: You started coming to my games only after Will joined the team.
Philip: I wanted to support Will.
Carlton: But you wouldn't come when it was just me!
Philip: Carlton, I'd like to come to everything you do. I always come to your tennis matches, to your glee club conserts, to your debate matches, frankly, keeping up with your extracaricular activities is a 24 hour a day job.

    • Philip: There is nothing like a little competitive sports to straighten someone out.
Geoffrey: Yes, it did wonders for Pete Rose .

    • Will: Let's get something straight Carlton. I've been out here for two months. I'm getting yelled at at home, shouted at at school, grounded, and threatened with expulsion on an almost daily basis. And now, when I finally find something I'm down with, you can't take it. Well, I'm not about to sell myself short just so you can look good. So just grow up.

    • (after Carlton stole the ball from Will and missed the shot)
Will: You should be the happiest guy in the world.
      Carlton: Yeah, why?!
Will: Because you got out of that locker room alive. Coach Smiley was up...set. You're lucky it was just a starter's pistol.

    • Carlton: I was under the assumption...
Coach: Ah, we don't make assumptions because you'll be an 'ass' and the 'ump' will 'shun' you.

    • Carlton: Hey,Hilary.Did dad mention me during the game?
Hilary: Ya,he did say "shutup thats my kid your talking about!"

    • Will: Uncle Phil, the coach told the team to pass the ball to me.
Philip: Uh-huh, and did he tell you to woof at the crowd, kiss the cheerleader between plays, and shoot the ball backwards?
Will: Well, nah. I came up with all that fly stuff myself.

    • Will (after winning the game): I'm going to Disneyland!
