  • Will goes home Season 4 finale

    8.5
When this show began, you find out that Will came from Philadelphia. From time to time some of his friends would visit. This time you get to see where he came from. It was nice to Will get back to his roots. I liked how Will even though he been living in luxury for four years, he still really messes the place. I also liked how the family was reluctant to live with Viv. I like that Will never got into a fight with his old enemy. I think what he said had an effect on Will. One of the funnier moments was when Carlton hid in the trash can to protect Will.

I think the ending was pretty good and made better that it was not the actual ending of the series.moreless
  • The Philadelphia Story

    9.0
In the season four finale, a lot happens on the vacation to Philly as the situation is reversed, the rich Banks living in the poorer conditions of Vy’s house, Hillary’s complaints being especially entertaining, and we also see the rep Will left behind changed because he left it behind, being crowned a chicken for him running from a fight that we see in the opening credits every episode.

The end was also a great way to end the season with the cliffhanger of Willy staying in Philly though I really doubt season 5 and 6 will remain in Philadelphia. Overall, this episode was a great way to end the season with great humour and plot twists.moreless

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was canceled at the end of the fourth season when Will returned to Philadelphia because ratings had declined. The fourth and fifth seasons happened for a couple of reasons. First, both Will Smith and NBC received a large amount of mail begging them to keep the series on the air. Second, the NBC affiliates were repeating the old episodes and those repeats were getting high ratings. Most of the station managers were worried that with only 99 episodes, audiences would soon tire of seeing the same old episodes over and over again so many of them offered to pay a much higher fee than usual for the rights to run the repeats if NBC would produce 50 more episodes.

    • Goof: In the Talking Turkey episode from the first season, Will's mother said he used to mow the lawn all the time back in Philly, but when they show Will's childhood home, he lived in an upstairs apartment that had no lawn.

    • Goof: In one shot, you see a guy with a red hat next to Will. In the next shot, the hat is orange.

    • International Episode Titles:
Czech Republic - Na návštěvě ve Philadelphii (On a Visit in Philadelphia)

    • The end of this episode features the shows logo, but in this format:
      The Fresh Prince of
      Philadelphia???

This was shown right after Will tells Philip over the phone that he does not intend to return to Bel-Air.

    • The end credits feature Will running up the steps (as he did in the episode). When he gets to the top, he faints. While he is on the ground, someone comes up to him and robs him!

    • This was originally a series finale as the show was supposed to be canceled, but then they signed the contract for another season.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Title: The Philadelphia Story
The title of this episode was taken from the 1940 classic film, The Philadelphia Story starring Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn and James Stewart.
