Janet Hubert-Whitten left the show after finishing the third season. Daphne Maxwell Reid took over her role as Vivian Banks for the final three seasons. Apparently Janet, Will Smith, and the producers were not getting along well. She was offered a contract for the fourth season but she decided not to sign.
Goof: During the end credits, Jeff Townes (Jazz) is listed with incorrect information. He is listed as Jeffrey A. Townes as DJ Jazzy Jeff. The name of Jeffrey's character in the show is Jazz, not DJ Jazzy Jeff. Someone confused the name of the character with Jeff's name in music.
Even though Vivian already had the baby, it's clear that Janet Hubert-Whitten is still pregnant.
Goof: When Hilary walks down the aisle during the wedding scene, you can see Vivian behind her. The camera cuts away from Hilary and when it cuts back to her, it's to the same footage of her walking down the aisle when she should have progressed farther down the aisle.
Goof: When Keith and Will are trying to see who is more funny Kieth says that jokes are what your Uncle Lou tells at a wedding. Will doesn't have an uncle named Lou. That's his father's name.
Goof: When Philip and the kids are in the family room doing the forced bonding there was classical music playing in the background. When they decide they can't take the forced family moment anymore, the music just suddenly stops, even though no one went to turn it off or used a remote to turn it off.
Goof: When Will was warming up to fight, moving his feet a lot, part of the ground moved, indicating that the ground was just brown tarps.
Goof: When Will is ordering the pizza from the car, he says that they were going north on I-80. I-80 runs East-West from the New York City to Sacramento. It doesn't run near Los Angeles either as it only runs through Northern Nevada and Central California.
This is the last time we see Vivian's sister, Janice.
Goof: When Philip falls over the Hospital Trolley and disappears out of camera shot, his legs can still be seen on the floor right beneath Carlton and Hilary, trying to get out of the cameras site. And even before he does we can already hear things being smashed and Carlton and Hilary are already looking straight ahead and reacting to the chaos he's caused.
When Philip was looking through the yearbook pictures with Carlton, he points out who is who. When Carlton ask who is the guy getting slapped by the girl, Philip says Clarence Thomas. Clarence Thomas is a supreme court justice who was accused of sexual harassment in 1991 by Anita Hill, a law professor at the University of Oklahoma.
The guidance counselor in this episode gave Will a second look due to his ability to solve a Rubik's Cube. Years after the episode aired, in 2006, Will Smith would play a man, down on his luck and lobbying for a stockbroker internship, in The Pursuit of Happiness . In the film, his character impressed one of the firm's employees so much with his ability to solve a Rubik's Cube that he was given a chance for the program.
Goof: When will takes Monique to the hotel, it shows that the hotel is one where the door entrance to the rooms are on the outside. But when Will carries Monique into their hotel room, they enter from an inside hallway, as if the hotel was one where the room entrances are inside.
Goof: Carlton says with twins they would have to split the inheritance four ways but there's, Carlton, Hilary, Ashley, and the two babies. Even without Will, Vivian, and Philip, it's 5 people.
Goof: When they think Luther robbed them, Philip states that he called the police. Moments later, Will also states that he's going to call the police, and is then surprised when an officer has already arrived at the kitchen door, but he knew Philip already called the police from the previous scene.
Will threatens to tell on Carlton for calling 1-900-HORNY, which is obviously not a real number it doesn't contain enough digits.
When asking Geoffrey to make him a sandwich, Carlton refers to him as "G" for the first time in the series. The butler's nickname is more often heard from Will, who first coined it.
Goof: In the scene where Will and Carlton hustle Geoffrey, Geoffrey loses the game because he picks up a red queen instead of a black one. However, when the card is facing the camera, it is very clearly the Queen of Spades, which is one of the two black queens in the deck. Geoffrey actually won the game.
