The reason I watch these old tv show is to see who plays the special guest roles.
The thing that makes this 1962 episode worth note is the presence of Peter Breck who later shows up on the western series Big Valley for several years.
Here he plays a sniper who's a loner, traumatized but efficient at his job whose facade cracks because of a scared mute little boy. Yes I know it's corny and it gets worse when the story has Breck's character uncharacteristly volunteer to help take out a mortar that is harassing the town and he gets killed a suicide charge.
But, I have to admit Breck brings a real strong presence and power to this modest script.
