  • "The Game" is back

The CW cancelled the show because they decide to get rid of half-hour comedies. Two years later, BET picked up the series and it changed ever since.

7.7 million people tuned into the return of The Game. That is absolutely incredible and it really shows how dedicated the fans were to save this show and now BET is reaping the rewards.

I watched the episode (not really a fan, but I've seen a few installments before) and I have to say it was a mixed bag for me. Some scenes were really good. This, along with Desperate Housewives, is really the only show that can have one super serious scene, immediately followed by a comedy scene, and do it well. They had that with Melanie telling Derwin about his son, and then having some Jason stuff follow it.

Some parts of tonight's premiere were great. I love how despite the fact that this show targets women it does its research when it comes to sports, and does not make glaring mistakes. I also love how edgy some of the jokes are.

Unfortunately, some of the jokes are really corny, and some of the scenes are just downright boring. Not to mention the laughtrack that shows up every 5 minutes (circa Season 1 of Sports Night) was a little weird.

Overall, you have to give this a decent score, and I did. Game on!moreless
  • Season 4 Premiere

    7.0
I've watched this show a couple times before mostly because of Tia Mowry, but I never really got in to it. When I heard this episode got 7.7 million viewers tuning in, I definitely had to see what the buzz was about. I definitely noticed things were different than the last time I checked, it seems like this show is on whole new plane.

My only issue with this show is that it can't decide whether it's a comedy or drama. Sure every sitcom has a little drama, but if I were to watch this for the first time ever, I would have thought this show was a drama, but the laugh track kind of told me it was a sitcom.

We got a really intense scene at the end of the episode, and I think the Melanie/Derwin drama is the only story line I care for, but this was a good premiere overall.moreless
  • Amazing Premiere!!!

    10
This was just awesome. I must say I'm really angry with Malik, he's a disgusting pig and a traitor. What he did to Tee Tee was unforgivable. I will say, the comedy from previous seasons seems to have took a backdrop. It was all drama. The game has always had drama, but they made sure the comedy was still there as the main poing. Kelly and Jason trippin! They was funny in this episode. Their duaghter got big! She got an attitude on her too!

I felt bad for Derwin. I just hate what the writers are put putting their relation ship through u.u . Tasha stuff was sexy! Her drama I mean. The music just added to the spicy drama of the episode! Can't wait for more!moreless

    • The new season is filmed on location in Atlanta. The episodes were filmed in the late summer/early fall to give the effect of San Diego weather. The producers stated in several interviews, the move to Atlanta was a cost saving measure to work with their new budget.

Brittany Daniel appears as a special guest star. Daniel was said to be working on other committed projects and had to work minor appearances on the show to keep Kelly Pitts role as a regular.

Erica Gluck has been replaced as Brittney. Katlynn Simone has been cast to play an older version of Brittney. Gluck's father has told people on facebook that the producers wanted to go in a different with the role. Similar to what happened to the Jabari character on Girlfriends. Tanner Scott Richards played the younger version up to the CW years. In the last two season, Kendre Berry, a full grown teenager played a high school version of the character.
