Episode Summary

AIRED:
Garry's guests are George Gobel and Diahann Carroll. Also with Durward Kirby, Marion Lorne and Carol Burnett. Highlights: "That Wonderful Year" is 1934. An elaborate production number based on "Who Can? You Can" from the Broadway musical, "The Gay Life". Carol Burnett is a slightly soused TV weathergirl to Garry's furious anchorman. George does a monologue about some hokum about Mitch Miller's home viewing singalong fans. Diahann Carroll sings "Anything Goes". George sings "El Rancho Grande" and "Tumbling Tumbleweeds". Carol Burnett and Durward Kirby break up the show, this time with their modernized spoof of Dickens' "Scrooge", with Carol as a happy-go-lucky bank teller jauntily absconding with the banks funds. All join in for a spoof of "Of Human Bondage" with Carol playing a Cockney waitress.moreless
