A particularly unexpected and delightful moment is when Gene is bringing the sheriff in to protective custody. Two others are accompanying them on horses. Suddenly Gene starts singing about how the sheriff will have to change his bad ways and follow the cowboy ideal. Silly? Yes, but it sure makes you feel good.
One other startling bit is when Pat Buttram actually manages to hypnotize somebody (besides himself), and that skill reveals the killer and saves the sheriff. It was wonderful to see Pat Buttram as a young, energetic cowboy, in stark contrast to his Mr. Haney role from Green Acres.moreless
