In pursuit of a team of dastardly crooks intent on importing shipping containers of Albanian women for the British sex trade, undercover cop Amy Harris (Elaine Cassidy) goes way undercover to endear herself to the head creep he is also a cop but a really bad one. Apart from duping foreign women into become sex slaves, he is into drugs, some of which he gives to Amy, which induces her to do something no sober person would do, which is dance to house music. The premise of Ghost Squad involves the reactivation of a long dormant division of the police force devoted to investigating bent cops, which is a great idea that deserves much better treatment than it receives here. One of the shows big problems is the miscasting of Cassidy, who looks as though she has joined the secret super-specialised squad on her day off from school. The other is the chronically haphazard direction, which seems happy to sacrifice clarity for pointless stylistic indulgences involving lots of slo-mo and wobble-cam.moreless
  • I missed something to make it all make sense???

This episode had a much stronger storyline than the first one. It was great to see Pete again in this episode, but I think he was slightly underused in this one - maybe at the expense on the ongoing storyline into Amy's affair with the married man.

Amy goes undercover to rescue girls who are supposed to be trafficked into the country in a container, but one of the 3 involved is crooked. I must admit it was a slight surprise which one was 'the mole' so to speak and the language was not quite so excessive in this episode which made it much more enjoyable to watch.

My only problem with this episode was that I didn't get the ending. Who were the two men? Did I not pay attention enough? Who was responsible for the death? As much as I play the episode over and over in my mind I just can't seem to connect what happened at the end.

Apart from the one fault, a very good episode - I'll be watching next week.moreless
