    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (9)

      • Some of the small rooms filmed in, such as the interrogation room, have four walls, but one of them is called "the wild wall" which is equipped with wheels on casters so that it can be easily moved out of the way when needed.

      • The execution room was built on the show's sound stage. The research and set design was done by production designer Hugh D.G. Moody and his art and construction department. The brick facade and steel doors were constructed entirely of wood.

      • The labels, signage, and even some of the paint on the walls and building are done by the show's in-house graphic artist, scenic painter, and scenic sign painter. Once a property is defaced for a scene, the crew must return and restore the property to its original condition.

      • Frannie's cafe was filmed at Anglins Fishing Pier on Commercial Blvd in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida.

      • The Pentecostal Church scenes were filmed at the Hollywood Women's Club, established in 1922 by the women of the City of Hollywood in Florida.

      • The snake that bites Jim is actually a rubber snake. Actor Michael O'Neill, who played Trent Staley, actually held a real non-venomous snake during the scene. But the real snake was swapped out for a fake one in between takes.

      • The tattoos on C. Thomas Howell's arm and neck were all created by the show's make-up department. The talented crew used so much detail that Howell requested a few more just to see how they would look.

      • The dead body in the box of snakes was the first life-size male dummy developed by the show's special effects artist. The dummy in the box was covered with live snakes — some poisonous — and a couple of fake snakes. Thanks to the expert snake handlers, no people or snakes were harmed during filming.

      • Carlos genuflected before walking down the aisle towards the altar at the Pentecostal Charismatic Church explaining to Jim that he's Catholic. Catholics believe that Jesus is truly present, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, in the Blessed Sacrament which is in the tabernacle of every Catholic Church and genuflect to show adoration. Since Protestants do not hold to this belief, a Catholic would not genuflex in a Protestant church.
