The Glass

Show Summary

The Glass is a TV mini-series about a middle-aged glass-making tycoon Jim Proctor (John Thaw) with a knack for sales, who decides to hand over his double-glazing company, Albery Glass, to his young nephew Paul Duggan (Joseph McFadden). Around the same time, he has a misunderstanding with his mistress Carol Parker (Sarah Lancashire) and Paul also starts flirting with Carol, making for good drama. Paul as a small boy (Joe Prospero's TV debut) endears himself to viewers and the bold dialogues of The Glass, including Proctor's speech with the opening lines "Shut up!", were top Sunday night entertainment in the U.K. in 2001.
