  • The restaurant is used agan in another episode

    10
The restaurant where Big Daddy is playing and where Rose, Blanche and Dorothy go to, is the same one that is used in the episode "Diamond in the Rough". For this first use of the restaurant, it has a cowboy theme to it. You could tell due to the way the people were dressed and the sounds of the mechanical bull in the back ground. However, when the restaurant is used again, it is where Blanche and Jake have one of their dinners. Just curious, if it is the same restaurant, even though Blanche doesn't admit it, wouldn't be the same type of theme?moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • In this episode Big Daddy says life is too short not to forgive his favorite little girl.  However, in "Transplant", Blanche remembers how much her parents favored Virginia the most and how she was so very neglected.  Quite a change.

    • Blanche seems to love Big Daddy very much, while mourning how hard it was for him when they both lost her mother. However, in Season Four, Blanche holds nothing back, calling her family "trash."

    • Big Daddy sells the plantation (Hollingsworth Manor) in this episode, however, in the finale episode, One Flew Out of the Cuckoo's Nest part(1) & part 2, Blanche talks about Dorothy moving into Hollingsworth Manor when she marries Blanche's uncle, Lucas.

Lucas could have bought the plantation from Big Daddy or after his death, or there could be 2 Hollingsworth Manor

    • Big Daddy and Blanche refer to their plantation as Twin Oaks in this episode; in later ones, it's always referred to as simply Hollingsworth Manor.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Big Daddy: (playing his guitar and singing) Folks say I should settle down and make honest living, but I just want to sing my song, I got lots to give 'em...give em'...(stops playing): This part needs some work. Now here's the chorus. (starts playing) It ain't gonna worry me for long, it ain't gonna worry me for long, I'll get up in the morning and I'll still be singing my song.
      Blanche: No you won't, Daddy.

    • Big Daddy: (to Rose) Did anyone tell you you're the spit and image of Miss Dinah Shore?
Rose: (flattered) You're putting me on!
Blanche: (laughing) Of course he is!

    • Dorothy: (opening the door, thinking it's her bully neighbor) What is it, "Mouth?"
Big Daddy: Back home, we usually say "how do?"

    • Rose: Oh, Sophia. I want to explain about last night. When I was a little girl, one summer we had a terrible thunderstorm...
Sophia: Excuse me, Rose. Have I given you any indication at all that I care?

    • Rose: When I think of my father, I always picture him pulling a giant tuna up Main Street.
      Blanche: Well who doesn't, Rose?

    • Blanche: Oh, fiddledeedee.

    • Sophia: (about smooth-talking Big Daddy) You need boots to listen to this guy.

    • Rose: What do you do with a mechanical bull?
Dorothy: Introduce him to a mechanical cow, Rose.

  • NOTES (4)

    • The background shot during the closing credits features Dorothy, Rose and Blanche in the bar where Big Daddy is supposed to sing.

    • According to Rose, St. Olaf was founded by Heinrich Van Anderdulen.

    • Witt-Thomas-Harris likes to use guest stars from their other hit shows. In this episode, Peggy Pope, who played the man's wife also appeared in the cult sitcom Soap as Carol David's mother. While Gordon Jump was also a semi-regular on the show as Chief of Police Tinkler.

    • This episode introduces us to the great Big Daddy Curtis Hollingsworth. He is played by Murray Hamilton in this episode and later replaced by David Wayne due to Hamilton's death later that year in 1986.
