  • Trivia

    • In this episode dorothy told Rose she'd love to be a mother again, but in "Second Motherhood" Dorothy made it very clear that she didn't want to be a mother again.

    • When Blanche tries to convince Dorothy to let her keep the car, she mentions she would give Dorothy one of her sons. She mentions, Biff, Doug and Skippy. Not only does she later mention a son Matthew, but the number of children she has is sometimes unknown. If this episode is believed as truth, that would mean Blanche six children. Biff, Doug, Skippy, Matthew, Janet and Rebecca.

    • When Sophia walks out the front door without her glasses, a car horn honks two seconds after she crosses the threshold, and she comes back inside claiming that she had an encounter with a Buick. However, it is evident from the opening shot of the girls' home that the front door is at least twenty yards from the street and it would have taken Sophia much longer than to get anywhere near street traffic.

    • In this episode, Sophia reveals the address of the girls' home as 6151 Richmond Street.

    • Blanche mentions that she has another son, Matthew, who is mentioned in season 2 episode, To Catch a Neighbor. Matthew, however, doesn't appear until The Golden Palace episode, Say Goodbye, Rose.

    • In this episode Blanche will do anything to keep the Mercedes! She says to Dorothy... I'll give you one of my sons... I have four children I've never had a Mercedes... which one do you want Biff, Doug, Skippy? If Blanche has four children how can she have 3 sons? We know she has 2 daughters which we've seen in other episodes... Rebecca and Janet.

Response: She said she has had four sons, not four children.

    • When the lawyer arrives with "Baby" he say that it is a him although when the pig is turned with its behind to the screen it is, in fact, a sow [female pig].

  • Quotes

    • Dorothy: (to the vet) How is Baby, Doc?
Sophia: I read in Newsweek they ran him out of Haiti.

    • Dorothy: (talking to Rose) We've been over this a hundred times. You cannot get pregnant using the toilet at the mall.

    • Sophia: Dorothy, thank God, I broke my glasses at the mall, I can't see a thing. It took me six hours to get home.
      Dorothy: Why didn't you call?
Sophia: I did, but everytime I put in a dime and started to dial, a condom popped out. Here, I've got five in my pocket, at your age that's enough for a lifetime.

    • Dorothy: I got your new glasses.
Sophia: Thank God...oh wait, these aren't the right ones.
Dorothy: Are they the wrong prescription?
Sophia: No the wrong color. I specifically asked for old lady smoky gray, these are black, I look like Buddy Holly.

    • Blanche: I will not let you do this.
Dorothy: Get out of my way, Blanche.
Blanche: I want that car, Dorothy. I will give you anything.
Dorothy: Blanche, we have to tell Rose the truth.
Blanche: I'll give you one of my sons. (Dorothy looks appalled) I have given this a lot of thought, Dorothy. I have had four kids, I have never had a Mercedes. What do you say? Which one do you want? Biff, Doug, Skippy-- no, don't take Skippy. He's got asthma.
Dorothy: Blanche, this has gone far enough.

    • Rose: In a lot of ways, he (Baby) reminds me of Jimmy Dean
Dorothy: The actor or the sausage?

    • (After they receive a letter saying baby died)
Sophia: And for this I fought my way back from a STROKE!

    • Sophia: Twenty-five grand in 10 seconds? Now I know how Johnny Carson feels!
