    • An interesting bit of technical crew trivia, but camera operator Randy Baer who only operated "The Pilot," and the second season premiere, and Donna J. Quante, who only operated "The Pilot" returned to work on the pilot of "Empty Nest."

    • This episode features guest stars Paul Dooley and Rita Moreno as George and Renee Corliss.

    • When Renee is sitting at the kitchen table with Dorothy, she accidentally calls her Darcy.

    • In this episode Dorothy mentions that they have a pool. And in prior episodes they mention that they do not have pool. When did this Pool show up?

  • Notes

    • Blanche mentions that her & Dorothy are going to see nightmare on elm street 4, this took place in 1987 & nightmare on elm street came out a year later in 1988.

    • The background shot during the closing credits features, Dorothy and Rose (sitting at kitchen table) while Sophia stands at table, yelling at Rose.

    • Paul Dooley played Rose's socially inept, straight-out-of-the-phone-book date in the episode "Love, Rose," which aired earlier in this 2nd Season.

    • The end credits of this episode are longer. Each cast member for "Empty Nests" is individually credited.

    • David Leisure plays Oliver in this episode. He is the only actor in this "pilot" episode to actually be a part of the cast of Empty Nest when it premiered in 1988. He played Charley Dietz.

    • Season two closes with the pilot for Empty Nest. The series was produced as a spin-off series later on, but it was retooled completely and these characters are never seen again.
