Finally, Dorothy takes Blanche's advice and invites Frank over for dinner. The evening he's expected, Blanche makes Dorothy change into something more dramatic than what she's wearing. While Dorothy is changing, Frank arrives and Blanche opens the door. To her surprise, Frank is in a cleric uniform. Blanche bumbles all over the place, making one gaffe after another. Dorothy is shocked and embarassed to learn that Frank is actually a priest. However, the women recover and dinner goes well. Blanche warns Dorothy privately that Frank has feelings for her beyond those of his cleric duty. Dorothy denies this, but when Frank (Father Leahy) leaves, he tells Dorothy that he'd like to see her later in the week to discuss something of utmost importance with her - leaving the church.
Sophia finds out and gives Dorothy a very difficult time about luring a priest away from his duties. Dorothy is a mess, and Blanche and Rose complicate her feelings by giving their own advice.
Sophia takes matters into her own hands by going to Frank's church and having a talk. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to her, Sophia's heart-to-heart falls on the ears of the wrong priest. Meanwhile, Dorothy learns the truth: that Frank is not leaving the church for her, but to go into teaching, led by Dorothy's inspiration.
