    Per FoxNews

LOS ANGELES - A family spokesman for Bea Arthur says the star of TV's "Maude" and "The Golden Girls" has died.

Spokesman Dan Watt says the 86-year-old Arthur died at home early Saturday. He says Arthur had cancer, but he declined to give further details.

The tall, deep-voiced actress won a Tony Award for the musical "Mame" and Emmy Awards for "The Golden Girls" and "Maude." Arthur's razor-sharp delivery of comedy lines helped make the sitcoms hits and turned the veteran stage and film actress into a popular TV star.

Arthur first appeared as the character Maude in the 1970s landmark comedy series "All in the Family," making guest appearances as the loudly outspoken, liberal in-law of blue-collar bigot Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor).

Another sad loss for such a great show. She, Estelle Getty and Herb Edelman are now reunited again.

    RIP Bea

I just saw this as I logged in. This is so sad. I hope that she didn't have any pain or suffered in her last couple of days. I'm glad that her family was there with her. This is yet again another sad loss to the world of television.

RIP Dorothy. We all loved ya. Ma and Stan are waiting with open arms for ya.

I thought she was healthy. She died less than a year after Estelle Getty died. That leaves only 2 Golden Girls left

i didn't know she was either. I hadn't seen her in anything in awhile except when she was seen on the TVLand awards & ET speaking about Estelle's death. I was calculating that up too. Estelle died on June 22, 2008 & Bea died today, April 25. 2 months shy. It's so sad.

This is such devastating news! Bea Arthur will always be remembered as on of the funniest actresses in television history. The Golden Girls wouldn't be the same without her.

At least we know that she is happy in Heaven with Estelle Getty - the comedic duo is sadly reunited.

Rest in peace Bea Arthur - you deserve it!

Here's a link to the Comcast article, which gives a nice retrospective of her life and career.

    And then there were 2.

She was such a private woman, maybe that is why we never knew she was ill. She made me laugh in her two most well known shows. Her voice over on Futurama was great.

And now Estelle, Herb and others from the show are up there waiting for her witty quips and comebacks. She will truly be missed.

What I find sad is that there are about 100 threads for Bea's passing on IMDb and there are only 11 comments here on TV.com...

Anyway, if you get a chance, check out Bea's personal page on IMDb and read some of the threads at the link below. Many of them are beautifully written and some personal stories and experiences.

It's a sad day for all who loved the Golden Girls. I loved the sitcom, and finished being fan of them: Sophia Petrillo, Dorothy Zbornak, Blanche Devereaux and Rose Knylan. R.I.P. Bea
